Abstract

Compositions comprising linear or cyclic fluorinated, saturated hydrocarbons of the following general formula (I) Rf1-R1-Rf2 and (II) Rf1-R2-Rf¿2, and the use thereof. Each composition comprises more than 10 molar % and less than 95 molar % of a compound of general formula (I) and the balance of a compound of general formula (II). These compositions have an excellent chemical stability and a high safety for the living bodies, do not deplete the ozonosphere, and are usable for forming solvents for polymers, particularly for forming polymer films. In said formulae, R¿1? is a carbon chain composed of CHF and CH2; Rf1 and Rf2 are each perfluoroalkyl, fluorine or hydrogen with the proviso that at least one of them is perfluoroalkyl, or Rf1 and Rf2 are bounded together to form a ring containing a perfluoroalkylene chain; and R2 is a carbon chain composed of CHF and CHF, with the proviso that the skeletons of the compounds of formulae (I) and (II) are the same.
