Beschreibung description
The invention relates to an electric toothbrush with a toothbrush axis mounted in a toothbrush housing, which can be set in an oscillating movement about its longitudinal axis and a reciprocating movement in the direction of its longitudinal axis by an electric motor with a rotating motor shaft, whereby to generate the Pen¬ del movement on the toothbrush axis a radially aligned and firmly connected to it rocker is provided and wherein the toothbrush for generating the reciprocating movement of the toothbrush axis has an eccentric driven by the electric motor, which in a connected to the toothbrush axis Driver engages.
An electric toothbrush of the above type is the subject of US-A-4,756,202. To generate the oscillating movement of the toothbrush axis, an eccentric aligned parallel to the toothbrush axis engages in a radial guide of the rocker in this toothbrush. The reciprocating movement of the toothbrush axis is generated by a second eccentric of a crown wheel which is arranged transversely to the toothbrush axis and which engages in a guide running transversely to the toothbrush axis of a driver firmly connected to the toothbrush axis. The arrangement of two eccentrics to generate the two required movements of the toothbrush axis requires considerable structural effort, since both eccentrics must be rotatably mounted in the housing and driven by a gear.
From DE-A-38 03 646 an electric toothbrush has also become known, in which for generating a Pendulum movement and a reciprocating movement of the toothbrush axis only a single eccentric is required. The latter is oriented transversely to the toothbrush axis and engages in a rocker which runs parallel to the toothbrush axis and is firmly connected to it in such a way that it moves in the longitudinal direction of the toothbrush axis with it and the transverse movement component of the eccentric by a tilting movement ¬ equal, whereby the oscillating movement of the toothbrush axis arises. In the case of an electric toothbrush according to DE-A-38 03 646, the gear mechanism is very simple, can work with little friction and enables the front area of the handle part of the toothbrush to be tilted. It is disadvantageous, however, that the gear mechanism only allows relatively small movements of the toothbrush axis and must be manufactured with relatively high precision in order to prevent jamming.
The invention is based on the problem of developing an electrical toothbrush of the type mentioned at the outset, which is of particularly simple construction and enables the greatest possible stroke movements of its toothbrush axis with little construction effort.
This problem is solved according to the invention in that the driver has a bore running transversely to the toothbrush axis, into which the eccentric engages in order to produce a circular movement of the driver, in that the driver furthermore has a groove running transversely to the toothbrush axis, with which it runs transversely to the Toothbrush axis slidably engages over a rocker which is firmly connected to the toothbrush axis, designed as a sliding block and aligned radially to the toothbrush axis, that the rocker is held in the groove so as to be tiltable to a limited extent about the longitudinal axis of the toothbrush axis, and that to generate the pendulum movement of the rocker and thus the toothbrush axis the rocker is coupled to the driver by a swivel connection.
In the case of such a toothbrush, just as in the case of DE-A-38 03 646 mentioned at the beginning, a single eccentric driven by the electric motor of the toothbrush is sufficient to generate both movements of the toothbrush axis. However, the oscillating movement of the toothbrush axis is not generated by a rocking movement of a rocker arranged parallel to the toothbrush axis, as in the cited document, but, as in US Pat. No. 4,756,202, by a radial rocker, which, however, is not from a separate eccentric, but from the driver driven by the single eccentric is set into the required oscillating movement. Therefore, a large stroke is also possible with the pendulum movement, without losing the simple gear structure as in DE-A-38 03 646.
The pivot connection between the driver and the radial rocker arm could be formed, for example, by a pin which projects from the end face of the driver facing the toothbrush axis and which engages in a radial groove of the driver. The swivel connection is particularly simple if, according to a development of the invention, it is formed by a radially aligned recess in the driver opening into the groove and a radial cam of the rocker which engages in this recess, and if the recess is on both sides of the The cam extends in cross-section from a tilting edge resting against the cam on the side facing and away from the toothbrush axis.
A particularly large swiveling range of the toothbrush axis about its longitudinal axis can be achieved with little effort if, according to another development, the The pivot connection is formed by a toothing on the rocker and the driver.
A simple, constructive embodiment consists in that the groove is provided in an end face facing the toothbrush axis, is open towards the end face and is T-shaped in the manner of a link guide, and that the recess is accordingly also in this end face.
The groove does not need to be undercut, that is to say preferably to be T-shaped, in order to fix the driver in the longitudinal direction of the toothbrush axis if, according to another embodiment of the invention, the groove is provided in a surface of the driver which is oriented parallel to the eccentricity of the eccentric is.
Recently, toothbrushes have often been designed so that their toothbrush axis is offset from the longitudinal axis of their electric motor and handle for reasons of haptics and appearance. The gear mechanism of the toothbrush according to the invention can optionally be used for toothbrushes with a toothbrush axis that is aligned with the longitudinal axis of the electric motor and offset with respect to the longitudinal axis, if the toothbrush axis is in alignment with the longitudinal axis of the electric motor in a first mounting position of the driver and if the toothbrush axis is in a second mounting position of the driver , in which it is pushed on the eccentric by 180 ° offset about the longitudinal axis, has an offset to the longitudinal axis.
To further clarify its basic principle, reference is made below to the drawing. This shows in

Auf das freie, in Figur 1 gesehen linke Ende der Zahnbürstenachse 2 ist eine nicht gezeigte, jedoch übliche Aufsteckbürste aufzustecken.1 shows an electric toothbrush with a holder 1 which is fixed to the housing and in which a toothbrush axis 2 is mounted in such a way that it can perform a reciprocating movement in the longitudinal direction and additionally an oscillating movement about its longitudinal axis 3, which can was illustrated by two double arrows. On the free left end of the toothbrush axis 2, as seen in FIG.
An electric motor 4 is used to drive the toothbrush axis 2, which drives a pinion 5 by means of a motor shaft which cannot be recognized and which meshes with the toothing of a crown wheel 6 mounted fixed to the housing. This crown wheel 6 has a crosswise to the toothbrush axis 2 the eccentric 7, which passes through a bore 8 of a driver 9. The driver 9 therefore moves circularly with the electric motor 4 running in a plane running parallel to the plane of the crown gear 6.
Die Figur 2 verdeutlicht, daß der Mitnehmer 9 in seiner der Zahnbürstenachse 2 zugewandten Stirnfläche 10 eine als T-Nut ausgebildete, quer zur Zahnbürstenachse 2 ver¬ laufende Nut 11 hat, welche über eine als Nutenstein aus¬ gebildete Schwinge 12 greift, die ihrerseits in der Nut 11 um die Längsachse 3 der Zahnbürstenachse 2 kippbar eingreift.FIG. 2 illustrates that the driver 9 has in its end face 10 facing the toothbrush axis 2 a groove 11 which is designed as a T-groove and runs transversely to the toothbrush axis 2 and which engages over a rocker arm 12 which is designed as a sliding block and which in turn engages in the groove 11 engages tiltably about the longitudinal axis 3 of the toothbrush axis 2.
The toothbrush axis 2 also has a radially oriented cam 13 which is connected to the driver 9 by a pivot connection 14 in such a way that it can oscillate about the longitudinal axis 3 together with the toothbrush axis 2, which is not possible for the driver 9. because it is held by the eccentric 7. In this exemplary embodiment, the swivel connection 14 is formed by a recess 15 in the end face 10 of the driver 9, in which the cam 13 engages and which in each case extends upwards and downwards from a tilting edge 16, which abuts against one side of the cam 13 expanded in width. Seen in Figure 2, the driver 9 moves by the movement of the eccentric 7 to the right or left, then the cam 13 tilts accordingly to the right or left, so that the toothbrush axis 2 performs the desired pendulum movement. Since the groove 11 is T-shaped, the movement of the driver 9 forwards or backwards causes the toothbrush axis 2 with the rocker 12 to move back and forth accordingly.
An axis 17 can be seen in FIG. 2, which passes centrally through the crown gear 6 and carries this and the eccentric 7. If this corresponds to the formation of the toothbrush housing, its front region with the toothbrush axis 2 can be bent relative to a region with the electric motor 4.
The embodiment according to FIG. 3 differs from the one described above by a different design of the swivel connection 14. In this case, teeth 18, 19 are provided on both the cam 13 and the end face 10 of the driver 9. The toothing 18 is designed in the manner of a toothed rack and the toothing 19 is designed as a segment of a toothed wheel toothing which engages in this toothing 18. Just as in the previously described embodiment, the lateral displacement of the driver 9 causes the cam 13 and thus the toothbrush axis 2 to oscillate.
In der Nut 11 sitzt wiederum die Schwinge 12 mit ihrem Nocken 13.In the embodiment according to FIG. 4, the groove 11 does not run in the end face 10 of the driver 9 facing the toothbrush axis 2, but in a side face 21 of the driver 9 at a distance from the end face 10. This side face 21 is parallel to the plane of the eccentric tricity of the eccentric 7 aligned. The rocker 12 sits in the groove 11 with its cam 13.
Dieser Nocken 13 greift wiederum in die radiale Ausnehmung 15.5, the front part of the driver 9 has been broken away. As a result, the groove 11 appears to be open towards the front, so that the rocker 12 which is firmly connected to the toothbrush axis 2 can be better recognized with its cam 13. This cam 13 in turn engages in the radial recess 15.
The toothbrush shown in FIG. 6 is constructed from identical parts to that according to FIGS. 4 and 5. The driver 9 was, however, rotated by 180 ° and pushed onto the eccentric 7. As a result, the rocker 12 arrives in a groove 11 together with the toothbrush axis 2 higher position, whereby the longitudinal axis 3 of the toothbrush axis 2 runs offset to the longitudinal axis 20 of the electric motor 4.
