Definitions

  • This invention concerns a back and/or sitting support for an operator at a fixed workplace in a room, such as a working chair in a hairdressing establishment.
  • body-support devices of various types, which, however, mainly aim to support the body in the sitting, lying or kneeling position. Supports for people in the standing position are less frequent, although the use of a 'platform' equipped with a backrest against which a person in the standing position can rest with the intention of reducing feelings of tiredness is known. In use, such platforms, however, reduce the freedom of movement at a workplace that requires temporary movements of the operator.
  • this invention In taking care of hair in a hairdressing establishment it is common to place the customer in a hairdresser's chair, after which the hairdresser, during the course of working, moves in the standing position around the customer approximately a half turn, i.e. one hundred and eighty degrees, and in doing this is often forced to adopt crouching working postures. This is very strenuous on the back, neck and legs. To facilitate execution of the work and reduce the strains mentioned above this invention concerns a back and/or sitting support that can be used by a hairdresser during the course of work.
  • the invention is characterized mainly by the back and/or sitti" i support being a unit attached to the floor that has a frame-like upper part, a 'support rail', which surrounds part of the working chair with a full opening forwards in the sitting direction and with space to work between the working chair and the support rail so that the support rail can form a support at the back for the operator's lumbar region and/or back while carrying out the work.
  • the invention is characterized by the back and/or sitting support possessing a column attached to the floor and centrally located on which the support rail can be raised and lowered in relation to the floor.
