Definitions

  • This invention relates to an accelerator for a motorcycle or motorbike that is more particularly to an accelerator having an improved braking effect and more easy to control in a stable driving position.
  • a brake for a front wheel and an accelerator are arranged in a steering handle parallel to a steering shaft so that a driver may brake a font wheel and/or accelerate by gripping the handle or twisting the driver's wrists.
  • supporting handling rods are attached in the left and the right sides of the steering shaft(not shown) in one piece as shown in Fig. 4, wherein the right handling rod(40) is provided with a lever for braking the front wheel(43) in the front thereof and a rotatable accelerating handle(42) fitted therein which may tighten or loosen an accelerating wire(41) so to accelerate or reduce speed correspondingly.
  • the accelerating handle(42) is used for regulating the speed by turning forward or backward and also for a handle of the steering wheel ,i.e., a driver grips the steering handle with both hands for steering and turns the accelerating handle(42) with his/her right hand for regulating the speed while sitting on the seat.

Moreover, usually one tends to increase the strength of one's wrist in the case of emergency, so as to produce and an undesirable acceleration .

  • the other end of the coating tube(19) is caught in the fitting hole(5) formed in the turning control member(6).
  • the present accelerator is simply operated by fingers while a driver grips the steering handle, i.e., in the case of starting or accelerating, by putting the right thumb on the hanger(23) and then pressing down the manipulating knob(8) with the right forefinger and the right middle finger while the right hand grips the steering handle so that the turning control member(6) fixed in the knob(8) is rotated via the bearings(3). Accordingly, the accelerating wire(4) is pulled to open the throttle valve of the engine and increase the rate of rotation thereof to accelerate. On the contrary, in the case of detaching of the fingers from the manipulating knob(8), since the accelerating wire(4) is returned by a spring arranged in the side of the engine, the turning control member(6) is also returned to normal and consequently the engine is in idling.
  • the braking lever(21) can be pulled immediately while the right hand grips the handle so that the braking lever(21) may be manipulated in a stable posture. Because the grip cap(22) of the right handle is secured to the handle, driving is also performed in a more stable posture compared with the prior art which has a rotatable grip portion. Furthermore, when driving long hours, fatigue of the right fingers can be reduced because the accelerator of the present invention allows a driver to press down the manipulating knob(8) with middle finger while the right thumb is set on the hanger(23) and the driver's right hand grips the steering handle concurrently. Accordingly, the accelerator of the preset invention permits manipulation for acceleration or decelaration while both hands securely grip the steering handle.
  • the present invention increases the braking effect and fuel efficiency, and also allows the gears to be changed appropriately to reduce abrasion and increase durability concurrently. It is to be understood that while a specific embodiment of the invention has been shown and described in detail to illustrate application of the inventive principles, the invention is not limited thereto, for example, this invention may be adapted to the various kinds of automobiles having two wheels including a scooter and auto-cycle and the like.
