Thus the fact remains that the player has to direct his stroke against a point adjacent to the ball, and this stroke is always intended to be performed in a normal sand wedge swing. Consequently, if the club head cuts down into the sand too far behind the ball, the mcmentum of the ball will still be affected by the larger layer of sand between club head and ball.

Abstract

Club de golf permettant de jouer dans des bunkers de sable, qui comprend un manche (2) et une tête (3) reliée au manche et dotée sur sa face avant d'une surface de frappe (4) essentiellement plate formant un angle par rapport au manche. Le bord inférieur de la tête du club de golf est incurvé, au moins en son centre, formant ainsi une partie saillante dirigée vers le bas. De plus, au centre du bord inférieur avant de ladite surface se trouve une autre surface ou semelle (6) qui est pratiquement plate et s'étend obliquement vers le bas et vers l'arrière à un angle (α) de 5 à 25 degrés par rapport à un plan s'étendant le long du bord inférieur du club de golf et perpendiculairement au manche. Ladite semelle a une largeur (A) allant de 1,5 à 5 cm et une longueur (B) dans la direction de frappe allant de 1,5 à 4 cm.
