Abstract
The invention being examined is a new device for skiers to efficiently and safely transport skis (5) together with their ski poles (4) and in such a way that the ski poles can be used as handles to carry the entire assembly. This device consists of two elements (1), which are identical and made through molding preferably in plastic material and by two elastic belts (2) equipped with metal or non-metal rings (31). Easy to use by carrying out simply and basic movements, this device is an innovative method to carry skis especially on snowy fields and also offers a new way to keep such equipment together in an orderly manner, when it is not used and therefore stored in closets and garages.
Description
Description:
DEVICE FOR CARRYING SKIS AND SKI POLES TOGETHER
Technical Field;
The invention being examined is considered to be part of the sports accessory sector and specifically, this item concerns skis and ski poles. More precisely this accessory must be included among the devices or mechanisms which are required to transport ski equipment, especially when the skier is practicing the sport on steep slopes and when he is not using such equipment and must carry them from one point to another of the slope, along impassable or icy paths, to reach higher positions.
Background Art;
The devices which involve and should resolve the problem of trasporting skis, which are used by both athletes and non-athletes, are tools, at least those we are familiar with, which are poorly designed, difficult to use, or they are objects or elementary apparatus which cannot be considered by the large number of enthusiasts who, when forced to, must make complicated and difficult manuevers to use them, without getting the valid help that they expect and should have. Unfortunately, skis usually end up being lugged on the shoulders, poorly joined and perhaps even more poorly joined with their ski poles.
This problem, which can be explained much better by those who frequent snowy fields and slopes, has not yet been resolved in the proper and hoped for manner.
slopes.
This objective was attained through the creation of the above-mentioned device which consists of two simple elements which, when not used during descents, are kept in a pocket, ready for use.
This device, as the first rational means of transporting skis, offer the following advantages:
- It requires no handles since it utilizes the grip offered by the sky poles which are attached horizontal- ly and parallel to the skis positioned with thier axes in the vertical position.
- The two supporting elements can be arranged so that once the skis are attached they are balanced and thus make it easier for those who must carry it like baggage.
- It consists of a simple and rational pair of lightweight tools which are simple to use and absolutely lightweight and compact. When skis are being used, they can be placed in a pocket. - No complicated operations are required to use this device. The skier can perform the required movements even while wearing large gloves.
- It is a simple to-manufacture device with an absolutely reasonable price. - It can be used for all kinds of skis.
- The two rigid elements act as spacers, which are placed between the skis, keeping them apart to avoid damage to their smooth surfaces.
Drawings:
A more thorough and detailed explanation is described below to better illustrate this invention. This refers to an ideal model as shown on the annexed drawing and therefore is understood and considered to be an illustrative example and therefore not binding or
restrictive. In the drawing:
FIG. l - represents a cutaway view of one of the shaped elements made with plastic material, equipped with a velcro belt, which includes joined skis poles; FIG. 2 - represents another cutaway view of one of the shaped elements as an alternative to the first one, which is equipped with an elastic belt as well as skis and ski poles; FIG. 3 - represents the elements which hold the skis and ski poles together so that they can be trasported; FIG. 4 - is an enlargement of the circular space L, indicated in FIG. 1;
FIG. 5 - is an enlargement of the circular space M, indicated in FIG. 2.
Detailed description with reference to drawings
The figures clearly show the features of the invention being examined which, as it appears in FIG.3, is a simple and lightweight device to manufacture and use, which for its specific use, requires just a few, basic maneuvers, In addition, as already mentioned, it can be placed in a pocket to prevent it from being lost when skiing or when not in use and to find it again quickly when needed. It consists of: two supports 1, preferably shaped and manufactured in naylon; one pair of belts 2 , elastic and molded in rubber or plastic and equipped with metal attachment rings 3; as an alternative, these belts may be made with velcro 2' and equipped with nylon rings 3' .
The functions of the device can be understood by carefully examining FIG. 3. In other words, it is a good solid gripping element with just as strong and safe a handle suitable for transporting skis and ski poles. It joins all the above mentioned equipment and
offers an efficient means of transportation.
By again studyng the figures and particularly FIG.
3, you can list the simple manuevers required to properly use the device: - Place the skis on a any support surface parallel to each other as shown in FIG. 3.
- As shown in FIGURES 1 and 2, place the two elements l between the skis at an adeguate distance to properly balance the skis. - Allow one end of the belts 2 or 2 - to hang freely since they are already attached to their hooks 2, through rings 3 or 3' .
- Use your free hand to grab the ends of the belts 2 or 2* one at a time. - Wrap the skis 5 with the belts 2' and thread the ends of the belts into the free ring 3* , making the protruding part with the velcro 8 extend along the part of the belt 2 - that remained before the ring which is also equipped with velcro 8; these velcro ends close so tightly upon contact or under finger pressure that they can easily support the weight of the skis which can only be separated by jerking the belts.
- With the belts 2, grab the hanging end 9 and pull, wrapping the skis 5 until the metal ring 3 engages the hook 7; this arrangement is so secure that the belts can easily support the weight of the skis which are freed from the binding only when the belts are released.
- Once the skis have been secured, the ski poles 4 can be inserted by snapping them into the two cavities of the elements 10, or sliding them into the cavities if they are tapered and truncated. Once they have been inserted they will always be at the proper distance with the shaped disks arranged as shown in FIG. 3. - After completing these operations, the device holds
the bound elements and by gripping the ski poles as shown in FIG.3, they can be lifted and transported. - When skis must be used, release elements 1, placing them in a pocket.
