Abstract

Méthode rapide et relativement simple et bon marché pour la fabrication de verres de plastique multifocaux ou progressifs à partir de lentilles préformées ayant une correction (c'est-à-dire une courbure ou une prescription) préalablement déterminée en leur centre optique. Cette méthode nécessite un moule et une composition de résine de qualité optique. On place la lentille de plastique préformée au contact du moule, de sorte que les surfaces de celle-ci et le moule forment une cavité qui renferme la composition de résine, qu'on fait ensuite durcir. On imprime ensuite à ladite cavité une forme afin, entre autres, (1) qu'elle corresponde à la modification de courbure désirée, et (2) que la correction de lentille au centre optique de la lentille obtenue soit sensiblement (et de préférence) identique à celle qui avait été précalculée au centre optique de la lentille préformée. Cette dernière peut aussi être moulée avec une fine couche de nonprescription qui joue le rôle de porteuse pour la zone multifocale ou progressive de la lentille obtenue. Grâce à ces méthodes, on peut mouler des lentilles en évitant l'emploi de joints optiques traditionnels et onéreux. On peut aussi plus facilement restituer le centre optique en position adéquate relativement à la prescription progressive ou multifocale, de préférence sans employer de joints optiques traditionnels ni de systèmes de déplacement du centre optique.
