Abstract
Description
Katheter mit distal angeformter Katheterspitze und SicherungsfaserCatheter with distally formed catheter tip and securing fiber
The invention relates to a catheter with a distally shaped catheter tip, in particular attached by injection molding, a continuous securing fiber being embedded in the catheter tube and in the molded tip to secure the connection between the catheter tube and the molded tip.
Beim nachträglichen Anformen von Katheterspitzen kommt der festen Haftung der Verbindungsflächen Desondere Bedeutung zu.Catheters, in particular with coarser lengths, are produced by extruding κatiιe terrohre from a suitable polymer material and then dividing a practically endless tube into catheters of the desired length. Then connecting pieces are attached to the Ronrabscnni tte of the appropriate length at the rear end of the catheter for later coupling of suction devices in fusion lines and the like. A catheter tip must be formed on the distal side, the design of which depends on the function of the catheter. The tip must be rounded so that there are no injuries when it is introduced into vessels. Furthermore, some catheters should have a closed tip instead of an open tip and the lumens end in side holes or there should be a space in the tip for a sensor. To form the special design of the catheter tip, the tube sections were previously reworked using cutting or / and thermoforming methods. Attempts have also been made to weld on, glue on separate tips or to form them by means of injection molding. When the catheter tips are subsequently formed, the firm adhesion of the connecting surfaces is of particular importance.
The retrofitted catheter tips must not become detached during use, because this would lead to serious problems during use and the patients would be endangered.
The object of the present invention is to provide a constructive design of a tip which is subsequently molded onto a catheter tube and which offers the highest possible degree of security against undesired detachment of the tip during use.
This object is achieved by a catheter with a distally formed catheter tip, or is characterized in that a securing fiber or a securing fiber bundle is arranged in the wall of the catheter tube or in a lumen of the catheter terronre, the end of which protrudes beyond the end of the catheter tube and into that by injection molding molded catheter end made of polymer material is embedded on the catheter tube.
The firm embedding of a securing fiber or a securing fiber bundle, in particular in the polymer material of the molded catheter end, ensures that complete detachment of the catheter tip is prevented if there is insufficient adhesion to the connecting surface of the catheter tube and the molded tip. In order to improve the anchoring of the securing fiber in the molded catheter end, it is preferred to use the front end of the sicne fiber or bundle of fibers to coarsen in volume. This increase in volume can be done by attaching a knot near the end of the fiber or by separating the security fiber bundle into individual fibers. It is very particularly preferred to attach a spherical, cylindrical, disc-shaped, conical, cuboid or ellipsoidal end piece to the end of the securing fiber, which is firmly connected to the securing fiber or the securing fiber bundle, in order to increase the volume of the end. The volume can also be increased by attaching a ring attached to the fiber end.
Both the securing fiber or the securing fiber bundle and the end piece can be made of glass, metal, plastic or carbon; when using a fiber bundle, a mixture of individual fibers made from these materials can be used.
The end piece for increasing the volume of the security fiber can also be a measurement receiver, in which case the securing fiber bundle contains the connecting and supply lines of the measurement receiver, and the end piece in this case is arranged in the molded-on catheter end so that the sensor surface of the measurement receiver is not from Polymer material is covered and is arranged on the outer surface of the catheter end. If necessary, the sensor can also be placed in such a way that the sensor surface is open to one of the lumens of the catheter in the vicinity of the tip. The polymer material of the molded catheter end is compatible with the polymer material of the catheter tube and allows a firm connection to the adjoining surfaces. It is particularly preferred to choose thermoplastics which become plastic in the same temperature range, so that when the injection molding is carried out, the prefabricated catheter tube end is heated at least at the connection surface to such an extent that there is an adhesive connection between the catheter tube and the molded-on catheter end. The particular advantage of the separately molded tip is that a softer material or one with better formability can optionally be used and the catheter tip can be designed according to the special requirements of the catheter, for example in the case of multi-layer catheters the lumens can end at a distance from one another. Lateral openings or a closed catheter tip can optionally be formed.
Wenn das Material der Sicherungsfaser oder des an derIf the material of the securing fiber or of the
Securing fiber attached end piece under X-rays provides contrast, the position of the catheter can be easily monitored during use.
The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to the figures.
Fig. 1 shows in longitudinal section the tip 1 of a catheter, which was subsequently attached to a multi-lumen catheter tube 2 by injection molding. The main lumen 3 ends in several lateral openings. The front catheter end 5 is closed and rounded. To ensure the adhesion of the injection-molded catheter tip 1 to the catheter tube 2, a securing fiber 7 or a fiber bundle, the end of which over the end of the catheter tube, has been arranged in the manufacture of the catheter tube 2 in a second lumen 6 separated from the main lumen 3 or in the wall of the catheter tube 2 2 protrudes. In the case of catheter tubes produced endlessly with inserted securing fiber, a section of the catheter material can be removed at one end of the section after being divided into the desired lengths, so that a piece of the securing fiber projects beyond the end of the catheter tube 2 for embedding in the catheter tip 5. At the end of the securing fiber 7, its volume is coarsened by attaching an end piece 8 which is embedded in the catheter end 5 which is subsequently molded by injection molding. The Enostuck can take various forms The decisive factor is the increase in volume of the end and the firm connection with the security fiber or the security fiber bundle. The end piece is preferably spherical, cylindrical, disk-shaped, cuboid, ellipsoidal or conical. The securing fiber 7 with the end piece 8 embedded in the catheter end 5 secures the connection point 9 between the catheter tube 2 and the integrally formed catheter end 5 against undesired loosening of the tip.
In Fig. 1, the connecting surface 9 between the catheter tube 2 and the molded catheter end 5 extends at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the catheter. To enlarge the connecting surfaces, the catheter tube 2 can also be provided with a connecting surface that extends obliquely to the axis when dividing long pieces of pipe to the desired length, or an oblique connecting surface can be produced when the end of the fiber 7 is exposed. The connecting surface of the catheter end 5 to be injection molded is correspondingly bevelled with a tool designed in this way. A stepped design of the end of the catheter tube 2 is also possible, but this is not preferred because of the additional processing step required.
Die Sicherungsfaser 7 schliebt bei einer solchen konstruk tiven Gestaltung die Anschluß- und Versorgungsleitung des Meßwertaufnehmers ein.2 shows in longitudinal section the molded tip 1 of the catheter with a main lumen 3 open to the tip. The securing fiber 5 is arranged in a second lumen 6 laterally to the main lumen 3 and has an end that is embedded in the molded tip 5 with a diameter de r fiber enlarged end piece 8. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 2, the end piece 8 is arranged in the tip 5 so eccentrically to the axis of the catheter that part of the surface of the end piece is no longer covered by the mandrel material. Such an arrangement of the end piece 8 is preferred if the end piece is simultaneously designed as a measuring sensor. The securing fiber 7 slips in such a construct tive design of the connection and supply line of the transducer.
The end piece 8 on the securing fiber 7 is designed as a ring which is embedded in the integrally formed end part 5. If the ring 8 is made, for example, of a material that produces contrast under X-rays, this embodiment allows the insertion of the inserted catheter end. When using an annular transducer as an end piece 8 on the supply and supply lines serving as a securing fiber to the lifting transducer, the ring is arranged within the end piece 5 such that the sensor surface is not covered by the polymer material, but is free and is located, for example, on the outer surface of the end part 5 .
Thermoplastic materials are particularly suitable for molding on the end part. These include polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyurethanes, polyamides, polyesters, polycaroonates, polystyrenes, silicone elastomers and synthetic rubbers as well as copolymers in addition to homopolymers. The plastic materials are medically compatible, so that the catheters according to the invention can also be permanently implanted.
