Abstract

A glove (1) is provided with a ledge (2) of flexible material, in such a way that a person carrying the glove achieves the wiping-off of rain, mist or the like from the visor, by moving the glove back and forth over the visor on a helmet.

GLOVE

The present invention relates to a means for wiping off visors attached to helmets .

During motor-cycling on highways the presently by far most common type of helmet used . is the so cal led integral helmet. Helmets of this type cover practically the entire head. In the front part there is an opening exposing approximately half of the face. As a protection against e. g. wind and insects etc. , it is common to fasten a visor covering this opening. This visor also protects against rain, but of course the view is very negatively influenced by the water accumulating on the visor. In order to do something about this it has been common to provide motor-cyclists' gloves with a portion of the upper side, comprised of chamois-leather or simi lar material , by means of which the driver wipes off the surface of the visor. However, this solution is far from satis factory, since it is impossible to achieve a complete wiping-off of the visor. From a traffic security point of view it is of course of great importance that a motor-cyclist has a good view, and the deteriorated view during rainy weather results in that one is reluctant to go by motorbike at such occas ions, and that one often has to wait until rain ceases before one can continue the trip. Going by motorbike despite rainy weather, thus means that one exposes both oneself and other road users to danger.

The pres ent invention has as an obj ect to provide a glove by means o f which th e above menti oned di s advantage s are eliminated. This object is achieved with a device of the kind disclosed in the appended patent claims.

The preferred embodiment of the invention w ill be described below with reference to the appended drawing. In the drawing is shown a conventional motor-cyclist's glove 1 , in which a thin, flexible ledge 2 is sown into a seem 3 , said seem extending from the tip of the thumb 4, along the s ide oppos ite the corner 5 defined by the index finger and the thumb. The wiping-off of the visor is achieved by simply moving the thumb of the glove with its ledge 2 pressed against the visor, back and forth over the surface. One could expect that it would be difficult to achieve an even wiping of the surface with a flexible ledge being attached to the glove in this way, but practical tests have shown that result is beyond expectation. Thus a completely wiped surface can be obtained by moving the glove back and forth just once.

It is obvious that the invention will find application even in other areas than motor-cycling. Thereby the ledge can be given another design and it can also be placed on other locations on the glove.

Claims

1. Glove (1) for wiping off rain, mist or the like from the visor of a helmet of e.g. integral type, c h a r a c t e r¬ i z e d i n that it comprises a ledge (2) of flexible material, said ledge being provided on the glove (1) in such a way that a person carrying the glove achieves said wiping-off by pressing the ledge against the visor, and moving said ledge back and forth over the visor.

2. Glove according to claim 1, c h a r a c t e r i z e d i n that the ledge (2) is provided alongside one of the fingers of the glove.

3. Glove according to claim 1 or 2, c h a r a c t e r ¬ i z e d i n that the ledge (2) is provided on the thumb (4) of the glove, on the side opposite the corner (5) defined by the index finger and the thumb, and in the longitudinal direction of the thumb.

4. Glove according to claim 1, c h a r a c t e r i z e d i n that the ledge (2) is provided across the knuckles of the glove.
