Abstract

The sealing strip for doors and windows is comprised of two strips (1 and 2) of synthetic material forming a V-shaped profile. A third strip (3) is fixed to the joint (4) of the first two strips. The strips (2 and 3) are coated, on their face intended to be glued to the frame or the leaf, with a layer of glue (8). The layer of glue is itself covered with a flexible removable layer (9). A groove (10) provided inside the joint of the first two strips makes the material thinner at that point and gives the desired flexibility. Also, a groove (11) allows the third strip to be folded in the case where the leaf is not large enough to glue flat the whole strip. The configuration of this sealing strip prevents the unsticking due to repeated traction forces which are exerted during the closure and opening of the window or the door. The strip is also easy to set and durable.

Description

Bande d'étanchéité pour portes et fenêtres Sealing tape for doors and windows

There are many sealing devices for doors and windows using one or more flexible blades, whether or not filled with a compressible and elastic material, such as for example synthetic foam. Such caulking strips are, in their most practical execution, self-adhesive. However, they tend to come off partially, and to lift, or even to tear off, under the effect of repeated pulls that cause the opening and closing of the leaf. These strips also have the defect of being either too chéfes or fragile, or else of wearing out too quickly due to too great rigidity.

The present invention aims to remedy these defects, in particular by limiting the risk of tearing off and detachment. It is a sealing strip generally described in claim 1 and of which claims 2 to 15 give particular embodiments.

The drawings represent some embodiments of the invention.

La fig. 1 représente en coupe transversale la bande d'étanchéité au repos, avec toutes les caractéristiques des revendications 1 à 6.Fig. 1 shows in cross section the sealing strip at rest, with all the features of claims 1 to 6.

Fig. 3 shows the sealing strip, in the same embodiment as that of FIG. 2, but in which the third blade is folded due to the thinness of the leaf on which the strip is fixed.

The strip comprises in particular a flexible blade 1, connected by one of its edges with a second blade 2. The second blade is able to be fixed, and preferably glued, on the frame or on the leaves of the door or window. The flexible blade deviates from the edge of the leaf or of the dormant frame on which the second blade is fixed and its free edge 7, opposite the joint 4 connecting the two blades, comes to bear, when the door is closed or window, against the standing frame or against the casement, depending on whether the flexible blade is attached to it or to that one. A third blade 3 is fixed to the joint 4 of the other two, extending the point of the V formed by the first two blades. This third blade greatly increases the surface area by which the strip adheres to the wing or the standing frame. The point of the V is thus securely fixed and the risk of tearing reduced to a great extent.

I.The groove 10 provided in claim 3 thins the strip at the joint of the two blades and thus allows easy flexing of the flexible blade I.

3.Similarly, the groove II provided in the embodiment of claim 4 ensures easy folding of the third blade, if necessary, for example when the thickness of the leaf does not allow the strip to be laid flat, as in fig. 3.

The rounded bead 12 provided in claim 5 has two functions: firstly, it stiffens the flexible blade, which prevents it from curling, then, the roundedness allows the edge 7 of the blade to slide easily over the unevenness of the surface with which it is in contact.

The rim 13 which is provided with the second blade according to claim 5 has mainly the function of protecting the edge 7 of the second blade when the latter is folded, as shown in FIG. 2. He presents also the advantage of stiffening the secoαde blade and avoiding curling detrimental to the effectiveness of the bonding.

Low density polyethylene is undoubtedly the most suitable material for the manufacture of such a sealing strip. It allows easy and inexpensive manufacturing. It has the necessary strength and flexibility. Nevertheless, it should be protected against ultraviolet rays by a color charge.

Claims 8 to 15 define combinations of the embodiments indicated above.

The three blades forming the body of the strip can be produced in one piece, by extrusion through a die of suitable shape.
