Moreover the material of the cap will clearly counteract the formation of sparks, and it will be unable to stick to the steel neck portion of the cylin ⁇ der by way of any type of corrosion.

  • the cap is thereafter un- screwable from the cylinder neck portion, and since the cap is preferably die cast it is conveniently provided with exterior protrusions or ribs, which are easily gripped by suitable means for rotating the cap out of engagement with the cylinder neck portion.

  • the protection cap 2 is made of arti ⁇ ficial resin, i.e. the tongue portions 4 are able to yield resiliently outwardly and still engage the screw threading 8 of the cylinder neck portion or valve end portion 10 with some radial spring force - even if the diameter of the screw threading 8 differs somehow.
  • Fig. 2 illustrates how the cap 2 can be mounted on the cylinder neck portion 0 of the gas bottle 12 by a simple axial displacement, since the cap 2 can easily be pressed or be stroken onto the neck portion 10 by a palm of the hand.
  • the protection cap 2 can also be screwed onto the screw neck portion 8 of the gas bottle 12.
  • the protection cap 2 can as indicated in Fig. 3 be unscrewed from the neck portion 8 as usually.
  • the tongue portions 6 are formed between broad and high slots 14 which not only serve to enable the tongue por ⁇ tions 8 to be bent outwardly as required for the adap ⁇ tion to a relatively broad cylinder neck portion 10, but also ensure a free ventilation of the space inside the cap 2 such that residue gas cannot be collected in this space (Fig. 3 ⁇ .
  • the protection cap 2 is provided with exterior ribs 16, which are easily gripped by suitable means for rotating the cap out of engagement with the cylinder neck por ⁇ tion 8 or 10, e.g. in gas filling plants.

Abstract

Calotte de protection amovible recouvrant la partie superieure (10) pourvue d'une vanne d'un cylindre ou d'une bouteille (12) contenant du gaz basse pression ou d'un conteneur du meme type possedant une partie filetee formant goulot (8) du centre de laquelle une structure de valve se projette, la calotte etant un organe sensiblement cylindrique en un materiau synthetique semi-elastique, la partie inferieure de la calotte etant constituee par une pluralite de languettes (4) espacees sur une circonference et se projetant vers le bas depuis la portion principale cylindrique de la calotte et etant pourvues de filetages internes (6) pour cooperer avec la portion filetee (8) formant goulot de la bouteille de gaz (12), la longueur desdites languettes (4) etant superieure a la longueur axiale de la partie filetee (6) de la calotte cooperant avec le goulot, afin de former des ouvertures de ventilation ou des fentes (14) entre les languettes (4).
