Abstract

Hose (5) for transport of a liquid medium conveyed by a pump unit (3), especially for transport of a drink in a drink server from a drink package (4) to a tap (6). Upon transport of a liquid medium there will be, in certain applications, pressure differences in the medium, which will cause splashes and wastage at the tap end of the hose. It is the object of the present invention to eliminate this by providing a hose (5) having a portion (5a) with a cross section which is enlarged relative to the other portions, and with walls thinner than the other portions of the hose.

Description

Hose
This invention relates to a hose for transport of a liquid medium, especially drink in a drink server, from a drink package to a tapping cock.
At transport of drink through a hose in a drink server pressure differences will easily arise, which are not balanced until the drink leaves the hose, and cause splashes and wastage in connection with the drink being tapped into a glass or the like.
It is the object of the present invention to provide a hose where the pressure differences in the liquid medium are balanced before this reaches the outlet end of the hose. In this way a more quiet and even flow of the liquid medium is obtained when this leaves the hose.
The object indicated above is realized by using a hose which has been given the characteristic features defined in the following claims.
An illustrative example of the invention will be described below with reference to the enclosed drawings, where Figs. 1 and 2 show schematically a drink server, in which the hose of the invention is intended to be used, and Fig. 3 shows a hose of the invention partly in section.
The drink server 1 shown in Fig. 1 comprises a space 2, which contains a pump unit 3 in the form of a so-called hose pump, which operates according to a so-called peristaltic principle.
In the space 2 a drink package, 4, e.g. with a volume of 20 litres, is also disposed.
A hose 5 extends from the package 4, via the pump unit 3 to a tapping cock 6 placed on top of the space 2, which cock comprises a pivotable arm 7, to which the glass is pressed to activate the pump unit 3.
It is more evident from Fig. 2 how the hose 5 is arranged in the tapping cock 6.
The hose 5 is not exchanged as soon as a package 4 is empty, but it is replaced at least once a day for hygienic reasons.
In Fig. 3 an illustrative example of a hose according to the invention is shown which, thus, is intended to be used as the hose 5 in Figs. 1 and 2. As is evident from Fig. 3 the hose 5 shows a portion 5a with an enlarged cross section. This enlarged cross section has been obtained by making the walls of the hose 5 thinner.
Due to the fact that the walls of the hose have been made thinner this portion 5a will be more leastic and, consequently, balances more easily possible pressure difference of the drink flowing through the hose 5.
In the illustrative example according to Figs. 1 and 2 the hose 5 is approximately 1800 mm long. It is then suitable that the widened portion 5a is disposed between the pump unit 3 and the outlet of the hose 5. The length of the widened portion 5a can preferably amount to at least about 1/5 of the length of the hose after the pump unit 3.
It has been found to be expecially advantageous if the hose 5 has a portion 6b with a normal cross section, calculated from its outlet opening, this portion preferably having a length of about 300 mm. The portion 5a with a widened cross section and a length of about 200 mm will then follow.
The hose 5 terminates in a portion 5c with a normal cross section and a length of about 1300 mm. Thus this section 5c will pass through the pump unit 3.
By using the hose described above instead of a hose with a constant cross section along the whole of its length a substantially more quiet outflow of the drink through the outlet end of the hose is obtained. As a consequence of this the risk of splashes and wastage at tapping of the drink into a glass will be reduced.
The invention is by no means restricted to the illustrative example described above but can be freely varied within the scope of the following claims. Thus, it is possible within the scope of the present invention to vary the counterpressure in the hose after its widened portion 5a by arranging a restriction of some kind in the portion of the hose designated by 5b, i.e. between the widened portion 5a of the hose and its outlet end.
