DESIGN FOR A CARPET-STRETCHER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 31,037, dated June 20, 1899. Application filed May 17, 1899. Serial No. 717,220. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom, it 12mg concern:
Be it known that I, JULIUS W. ORTON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Coldwater, in the'county of Branch and State of Michigan, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Carpet-Stretcher, of which the following is aspecification.
The invention relates to a new and original design for carpet-stretchers.
The essential feature of the design resides in aplate provided with transversely-disposed bars or portions converging atopposite sides of the center of the plate and provided with inclined spurs, and a minor feature of the design resides in the marginal flanges project ing from the opposite face of the plate and provided at the corners and at points between the ends of the plate with lips.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a plate for carpet-stretchers, showing my new and original design. Fig. 2 is a similar View showing the inner face of the plate.
Like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts in both figures of the drawings.
1 designates an oblong plate provided with transverse bars or portions 2 and 3, located at opposite sides of the center of the plate and converging toward the-same. The bars 2 at one side of the center of the plate are parallel and are separated by oblong openings, which are also parallel. The bars or portions 3 at the opposite side of the center of the plate are disposed at an acute angle to the bars 2 and are parallel and separated by openings 5. The openings 4 and 5 comerge toward the center of the plate similar to the bars 2 and 3. The plate is. provided with a central tapering opening (5, arranged between the contiguous bars or portions 2 and 3 at the inner ends of the series, and tapering end openings 7 are located between the bars 2 and 3 at the outer ends of the series and the ends of the plate.
The bars or portions 2 and 3 and the ends of the oblong plate are provided with tapering projecting protuberances or spn rs 9.
The plate is provided at its inner face with marginal flanges l0 and 11, and it has lips 13 and 14 projecting therefrom and arranged at the corners of the plate and at points between the ends of the side flanges.
What is claimed is- The design for a carpet-stretcher, herein shown and described.
