FAYE'ITE S. GILES, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO GILES, WALES & OO., OE SAME PLACE.
Design No. 3,886, dated March 8, 1870.
DESIGN FOR. THE BARREL-BRIDGE, RATCHET-CAP BASE, AND ARBOR-CUP OF WATCHES.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part o the same,
To all whom lit may concern:
Be it known that I, FAYETTE S. GILEs, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new Design for the Band-Bridge Ratchet-Gap Base, and Arbor-Cup of Watches; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification.
The drawing represents not only the barrel-bridge and the attached parts embraced in the design, but also represents the top-plate and cock, the better to show the application of the design.
Figure 1 is a top view, and
Figure 2, a profile perpendicular to iig. 1 in the plane indicated by the line a: x.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both figures.
The generalA form of the barrel-bridge A is that of a. straight bar widened at one end, as shown at a b in fig. 1, and having both its ends of arc-form, to conform to the case of the watch.
The widened portions a b have their inner edges hollcwed out in the form of arcs to coliform to the circumference of the spring-barrel.
The ratchet-cap B is in the form of a circle, of a diameter considerably larger than the width of that part ofthe bridge next to which it is situated.
The base C is in the form ol' a circle, somewhat smaller than the ratchet-cap, and projects above the ratchet-cap, as shown at c in iig. 1.
The arbor-cup D stands up above the base C in the form of' a hollow cylinder with a small fillet, d, at its union with the base.
XVhat I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
'lhe design herein described and represented in the aoecompanying drawings of the barrel-bridge, ratchetcap, base, and arborcup of a watch.
F. S. GILES.
