DESIGN FOR A HANDLE FOR SPOONS OR SIMILAR ARTICLES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 36,229, dated February 17, 1903.
Application filed December 26, 1902. Serial No. 136,758. Term of patent 3-: years 1'0 all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, EUSTACE Owens and CHARLESv S. COURT, citizens of the United States, residing in the city of Providence, in
. 5 the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented and produced a new, original, and ornamental Design for the Handle of a Spoon or Similar Article, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
The figure is a view of the obverse side of a spoon-handle, showing our new design.
As shown in the drawing, the leading feature of our design consists in the decoration of the handle by the ornamental arrangement of foliage and flowers of the carnation-pink represented in relief.
In the drawing, A is the head, and B the shank, of the handle. The handle is outlined by the marginal lines 3 3. The head A is or- On the upper portion of the shank B, adjacent to the head A, lies an upturned pink 6, overlying the leaves 7 7. The calyx 6 of the pink 6 is represented as surmounting the stem 8, which springs from the marginal line 3. The remaining portion of the shank B is ornamented by leaves 9 9 and buds 1O 10, which intertwine in an upward direction from the base of the handle.
It is evident that our design is applicable to the handles of articles other than, but similar to, spoons.
Having described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
