UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HARRY S. TOWNSEND, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO FRIEDBERGER -MANUFAOTURING COMPANY, OF PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR I 'RIMMING FOR LADIES UNDERWEAR.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Design No. 34,599, dated May 28, 1901. Application filed April 24, 1901. Serial N6. 57,344.. Term of patent 3% years.
To (0Z2 2071,0111 it may concern:
Beitknown that I, HARRY S. TOWNSEND, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, county of Philadelphia, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design in Trimmings for Ladies Underwear, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this specification.
My invention has for its object the provision of a new and original design for trimming or edging, and is especially adapted to be used in connection with headings and tips of trimmings or edgings for ladies underwear.
The figure is a front view of a portion of such trimming.
The design consists of a plurality of rows of oval-shaped figures A, resembling hexagons with rounded corners, each row being bisected by a chain-like thread B. One set of the threads forming the oval-shaped figures extends from the chain-like threads outwardly around and inwardly back to the chain, thence outwardly around and inwardly back to the chain, and so on, the several loops or turns forming halt circumferences of successive ovalshaped figures in the same row. Another set of threads extends back and forth in the same way in the opposite direction, forming the other half of the figures of this row. The figures of the other row are formed in the same way. The threads forming figures of two adjacent rows interlace, thus forming a thick and closely-associated group of threads extending lengthwise and separating adjacent rows. I
Having now fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to protect by Letters Patent, isp The design for trimming for ladies under wear, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony of which invention I have hereunto set my hand at Philadelphia on this 17th day of April, 1901.
