UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
AUGUSTUS SEAVER, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO CHARLES D. \VOOD, OF LINCOLN, RHODE ISLAND.
DESIGN FOR A LAMP-SHADE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 23,966, dated January 29, 1895.
Application filed November 2, 1894. Serial No. 527,774. Term ofpatent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, AUGUSTUS SEAVER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original design for Lamp-Shades, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, showing a part thereof.
Figure 1 is a. front elevation of a lamp-shade showing my design. Fig. 2 isasectional view of the same.
The leading feature of my design consists of a globe-shaped shade open at both ends, having a smooth unbroken exterior surface and provided on its interior with prism-shaped ribs running substantially parallel with each other lengthwise of said shade, the said prismshaped ribs having their greatest width at a point intermediate of their ends and grad ually tapering from said points to said ends.
A is the shade, which is of a general globular shape. Onthe exterior of the shade are formed the prism-shaped ribs (1 extending lengthwise of said shade. These ribs are widest at points a between the ends I), and taper gradually from said points to said ends. The shade is provided with openings at the top and bottom, and has a smooth unbroken exterior surface.
What I claim is The design for alamp-shade, substantially as herein shown and described.
