\VILLIAM B. SMITH, OF NEIV YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO THE SMITH ADJUST- ABLE CARAXLE BEARING COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A CROWN-BACK FOR CAR-AXLE BEARINGS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,892, dated June 21, 1898.
Application filed May 25, 1898. Serial No. 681,751. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WVILLIAM B. SMITH, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Urown-13ack for Car- Axle Bearings, of which the following is a specification.
The leading features of my design consist in a crown-back forcar-axle bearings, the top of which is rounded and having an elongated projection uprising from the crown of the rounded portion, the said elongated projection being tapered both in width and thickness.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents the crown-back in perspective. Fig. 2 is a top plan view. Fig. 3 is a bottom plan view. Fig. I is a view in side elevation, and Fig. 5 is a view in endelevation.
A represents the crown-back as a whole, (1 represents the convex or rounded top, and a represents the elongated projection uprising from the rounded or convex top a. Ears a project from the opposite sides of the crownback.
WVhat I claim is The design for a crown-back for car-axle bearings, substantially as shown and described.
