CHARLES M. JARVIS, OF BERLIN, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO THE BERLIN IRON BRIDGE COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A CLEVIS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,469, dated August 3, 1897.
Application filed June 22,1897. Serial No. 641,837 Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it hwy concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES M. JARVIS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Berlin, in the county of Hartford and State of 5 Connecticut, have invented and produced a new and original Design fora Clevis, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 is a side view of a clevis, showing 10 my design. Fig. 2 is an edge View of the same, and Fig. 3 is a transverse section thereof on the line a: a".
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of my design consists of the 15 rounded head or enlargement on the outer side of each strap at its junction with the eye or head. The straps 4 at their outer ends have a contour in side VlGW which may be called balloon-shaped," as shown in Fig. 1, with a round hole 5 in the central portion. 20 The straps 4 widen with curved outer edges, which meet the sides of the head 6. From near the smaller end of the balloon-shaped portion of the straps there is a head or enlargement 7, which widens from its end 8 to z 5 ward the head 5, as shown, giving the clevis an oval form in cross-section.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is 0 The design fora clevis as herein shown and described.
