Patented Nov. 17, 1896.
jet/arch?! UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ROSCOE M. FLOYD, OF BOSTON, JlIASSAOIIUSE'JlTS.
DESIGN FOR A WATCH-PLATE SPECIFICATION forming part of Design N 0. 26,266, dated November 17, 1896. Application filed July 2, 1895. Serial No. 554,776. Term of patent 7 years.
1'0 (ZZZ whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROSCOE M.- FLO'YD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Boston, in the county of Sufiolk and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, h ave invented a new and original Design for a lVatch-Plate, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the upper face of a watch-plate embodying my design. Fig. 2 is a perspective view showing the under face of the plate.
The leading feature of my design consists in a plate comprising a center-bridge portion and a barrel-bridge portion parallel with each other and with a parallel-sided groove or depression between said bridges, the center bridge having a free thin overhanging projection with a hole near the end to receive a bearing, the barrel-bridge portion having an angle arm or foot extension with a thick end portion, and a cross portion having an irregular triangular outline on the under side of the two bridge portions at the rear, the outer edge being convex and theinner edge concave.
The plate has at the outer end a base I) of irregular outline, but of a generally triangular appearance, or like the configuration of the side elevation of a shoe, bounded by the convex curved line b which would correspond to the bottom of a shoe, a too If, concave instep U, top 11'', and heel Z). Rising above the base, near the heel side and integral with the base, is a parallel-sided portion at, having a thin projecting extension a, formed with a hole '12 adapted to receive a bearing. Rising above the fore part of this shoe-shaped base and integral therewith is a parallel sided portion Z, a parallel-sided groove or depression I) being formed between the two portions a and Z. The portion Z has a thin projecting extension or bridge Z, having an angular foot Z and toe Z, the toe Z being thick and having its under face in a plane with" the face of the base Z). In the bridge portion Z is a hole 8 to receive a bearing. The foot Z has the scallops Z Z", and Z although these may be omitted without departing from the general character of my design.
W'hat I claim is The design for a watch-plate substantially as herein shown and described. Y
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses, this 26th day of June, A. D. 1895.
