Description

DESIGN.
R. J. UHRISTY. BREAD KNIFE. No. 24,386. Patented June 11, 1895.
U YYWESSE-S' 1.1V VIE/V7071? UNITED STATES PATENT QEFICE.
RUSS J. CHRISTY, OF FREMONT, OHIO.
DESIGN FOR A BREAD-KNIFE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 24,386, dated June 11, 1895.
Application filed April 22, 1895. Serial No. 646,767. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, RUSS J. CHRISTY, residing at Fremont, in the county of Sandusky and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and original Design for a Bread-Knife, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 is a plan view of a bread-knife, illustrating my design. Fig. 2 is a reverse view of the same.
The blade, A, of the knife is of suitable metal with a bright surface. The back of the blade is slightly curved or concaved on line 11-19, from the heel toward the point. At b the blade makes an abrupt turn and extends on the curve line b-c to the extreme point e. The edge of the blade is a generally convex curve from c to d, and this curve follows the serpentine course indicated in the drawings. The blade is much wider near the heel than near the point. The blade curves from its widest part to the ferrule B, on the handle, and is there of width equal to the diameter of the ferrule. Fer-rule B has an ornamental head e extending around it, and curves from this head toward the blade.
Handle 0, of wood, has the ornamental head It near its smaller end where it joins the ferrule, and above this head the handle extends in nearly cylindrical form for a distance, and then swells outward, and again curves inwardly to near the end. A button 1' forms the end finish ot' the handle.
The characteristic feature of the design is the peculiar outline of the blade and handle.
One face only of the blade shows bevel m, near the edge, and bounded by a serpentine line about parallel of the edge. The blade presents a bright surface of polished metal except on the serpentine bevel surface.
That I claim is- The design for a bread knife substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I atfix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
RUSS J. CHRISTY. \Vitnesses:
JOHN T. GARVER, HIRAM M. GREENE.
