Be it known that LEDWJN R. GAHQONE, of Newark, in the. county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have originated and designed a. new and Improved Design for Metal Jockey for SaddleTrces, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference be-i ing had to the accompanying drawing, makiug part of this specification. Y

This invention relates to a. new and original design of a metal jockey for saddle-trees; and consists, principally, in the production of a metal jockey hailing cast in the frame imih tion tuft-nails, instead of having holes for the 7 reception of the ordinary tuft-nails.

Usually the tuft-nails are put through holes in the jockey-flaps; but the improvements in the manufacture of saddle-trees have rendered the use of such nails as fastening devices unnecessary.

In the drawing, the letters a designate the imitation tuft'nails, and b and c are ornamental depressions cast in the flap part of the jockey, and run around near its edge. The object of these depressions is to impart an ornamental appearance and finish to the jockey, the dis EDWIN R. QAHOONE.
