Be it known that 1, Wilson K. Chapman, a citizen of the United States, residing at Washington, District of Columbia, have invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for 9. Pencil, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part thereof.

The characteristic features of the invention are a round pencil body with a series of aligned depressions formed on lines parallel with the axis or the body and displaced from each other cir-. cumferentially of the body at 120, covering substantially two-thirds of the length of the pencil body.

Figure 1 is a side elevational view of a pencil showing my new design.

Figure 2 is a side elevation seen at a. position revolved 120 from that of Figure 1, and

Figure 3 is a. development of the surface of the article.
