Description
INITED STATES PATENT EEICE.,
SHERWOOD 8v CO.
IMPRovED TABLE-CASTER."
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No.`9S,432, dated December 28, 1869'.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DANIEL SHEEwooD, of Lowell, in the county oi' Middlesex and State 4 of Massachusetts, have invented certain new rings, showing the mode of constructing the same. Fig. 3 is a view of the center plate, and Fig. 4 is a view of the ornamental rosettes.
l Fig. 5 is a view of the center barsa substitute for the center plate, C.
A A represent the uprights, forming the legs and handle; B B, the bottlerings; C, the center plate, the form of which is shown clearly in Fig. 2. The parts A, which form the legs, are first madeof wound wire of the desired length, and a union of the two is formed in the center of their length'for a handle, E. The rings B are also formed of wound wire, bent of a circular shape, as shown in Fig. 3. They are secured to the center plate, C, by the straps c c, which pass under and embrace the plate as well as the rings. The legs A are inserted in the holes d in the plate, and the ears e areA bent down to the legs and secured by small wires, which are passed through the holes in the ears and around the legs.
At the points where the legs enter the holes d ornamental pieces of any shape or material may be attached, that of a rosette made of wound or twisted wire being adopted by me as a neat and symmetrical ornament, adding much to the beauty of the caster.
When completed, the article is immersed in a metal bath, and all the parts soldered and tinned at one operation.
It will be obvious that the bottle-rings may be supported and secured to the legs in different ways, and still be within my inventioni For instance, a cross`-bar of the samematerial (shown at Fig. 5) may be secured to the legs at their ends and the rings secured to the bars by soldering or uniting with iine wire.-
A caster thus made is strong and substan-V tial, consists of few parts, is produced at a low cost, and forms a beautiful article within the reach of the great mass of people.
I claim- As a newr` and improved article of manufacture, a table-caster constructed of wound wire,
substantially as described and specied.
