Description

della esta @met @with Letters Patent No. 98,403, dated December 28, 1869.
IMPROVEMENT IN WINDW-BLIND.
The Schedule referred to in tlese Letters Patent and making part of the'ame.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, LINDON PARK, of Brady, Indiana county, State of Pennsylvania, have invented an Improved'VlTindow-Blinyh and I do hereby declare the following tobean exact-description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this-specification, in Which- Figure 1 represents a front view ofthe blind.
Figure 2 is an epd view, showing how the links conneet the double tape-lines.
Figure 3 shows how-the drawing-cord is fastened around the button below, when the blind is lraised up to the height required.
Figure 4 shows the notches in each slat, in which the links rest. Figure 5 exhibits an end View of the slats, folding together in a zigzag operation.
'lhe nature of my invention consists in the independent linlts, fitting into the edges of the slats, and connecting the double tape-lines; also, the arrange ment of the drawing-string, passing through apertures in the slats, so 'that the slats fold together in a zigzag form, and are vfastened by the string being wound around the button, at the centre of the blind, below.
The object is to produce a neat and useful blind, to be easily riased and lowered, and not so heavy as those with slats folding or lapping over each other, with less wear on the tape-lines, a less number of slats, and insuring greater' durability.
lo enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation, as follows:
A represents the top of a window, to which the blind is hung by two short straps, B B. y
C C are the double tape-lines, passing on each side of each slat D D, fastened at the top slat, and connected together by links E E, that lit into notches, (l Gr, in the edges ofthe slats.
The ends of the drawing-cord .l are attached to the lower slat, permanently, by buttons H H.
The cord J, being first passed through the apertures K K,fin each slat D, and, when the blind is to heV raised, the cord is held at M andl drawn downward, whichdraws Vthe slats zigzag, and the cord is wound around the oblong and forked-end button N, attached to the under side of the lower slat, which fastens and holdsthe blind at any height required.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The independent links ,El E, mad of metal or other material, fitting in notches G in the edges of the slats D, and connecting the double tape-lines or strings C C, as herein shown and described.
2. In combination 'with the above, the zigzag method of folding up the blind'with a drawing-string, J, passing through holes K, in the slats D, and fastening on i a button, N, on the lower Slat, as herein shown and LIN DON PARK.
