FUSE-MOUNTIKG FOR ELECTRIC CUT-OUTS.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM J. PATNODE, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have inven'ted'certain new and useful Improvements in Fuse-Mountings for Electric Cut- Outs, of which the following is a spe'cification.
The object of m invention is to produce a fuse-mounting which, when its fuse burns out, may be easily disengaged from the caps and terminal plates of an electric cut-out device, and thereby preserve said parts for theready replacing thereon of a new fusemounting.
In'the accompanying sheet of drawings, Figure 1 represents an elevation of. my improved fuse-mounting, .as constructed for application to the caps and plates of electric cut-outs. Fig. 2 is a central sectional View of the common tubular casing, caps, and terminal plates, respectively, of an electric cut-out device, showing my improved fuseinount-ing applied thereto, and, Fig. 3 is a similar Vlt 1 showing the point where the fuse burns out in a device of this character.

My .improved fuse-mounting, shown by Fig. 1, comprises a fuse-stripe of carbon, or other suitable material, having copper wires I), 6, whose ends are secured by solder to the ends of said fuse-strip, as at points 6, b and the free end portions of said wires screw-threaded, as at I), two metallic supports 0, 0 each having, at one end thereof, a conical head 0, and each support provided with ascrew-threaded opening therethrough, 0 to receive tlTethreaded portions 'of the wires 6, b, and bindingscrews (Z, d to enter the threaded openings of said supports.

'The fuse strip is cut away at its central portion in order to leave a narrow mar inal part b to burn out when the device is sed under an excess current.
To apply my improved fuse-mounting a support 0 is placed within the lower cap 7 and a screw d is caused to bring the head of said support in firm contact with the bottom of the latter, the casing e isthen brought over the fuse-mounting and seated within said cap, after which the upper cap f is mounted upon the opposite end of said casing and forced down to rest upon the head of the upper suport -c, in order that the other screw cl may secure the latter firmly in place, in the manner shown in Fig. 2. Therefore, it is readily understood that by use of my improved fuse-mounting, after the fuse in same burns out, by simply engaging a wire I) with a support 0, which is secured to the lower cap 7, the casing c mounted in said cap and the upper cap f mounted on the end 0 said casing and secured in place by the screw d, the device will then be in operative condition, as shown in Fig. 2.
By my construction and arrangement of parts I provide a fuse-mounting that readily accommodates itself to be applied to the capterminals of an electric cut-out device, whenever a fuse burns out in thelatter, and at the same time a fuse structure that is simple, and inexpensive to manufacture.
Having described my improvement, what I claim, is
1. In combination, the fuse-stri at having wires 7), 7) soldered thereto and sai wires provid ed with screw-threaded portions 6 b the supports 0, 0 provided each with a conical head and each support having a screw-thread therethrough, to receive the threaded portions of the wires of said fuse-strip, and the binding-screws (Z, (Z to engage in the threaded opening of said supports, as showna-nd' supports having each a conical head and WILLIAM J.
