Description

finder gatwt Letters Patent No. 91,7 93, dated June 22, 1869.
IMPROVED MOSQUITO-GUARD.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, ROBERT THEMAR, of the city and county of Shcboygan, and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and improved Slcep-Preserver and Mosquiixi-Guard; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being hadto the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification, in which my invention is represented by a perspective view.
This'invention relates to that class of devices adapted to protect the face, hands, 850., from the attacks of mosquitoes and other insects, and has for its object to provide the public with a simple, cheap, and lightguard, which can be'carried in avalise or hat-box, and which can be placed over the head and arms during sleep, or at any other time, for the purpose indicated.
In the drawingc a ac are a series of light flexible hoops, of any suitable material, such as springsteel, bars, 8m, suitably covered to prevent their rust from injuring the clothing.
c c c c c are a series of rods, of similar material, five (more or less) in number, arranged as shown in the drawing, and fastened to the hoops at the points of contact. p
The hoops and rods thus constitute a barrel-shaped frame, the convex sides of which are covered with mosquito-netting, one end being covered with cotton cloth, or other similar material, if preferred This end is designed to come above the wearers' head.
. The opposite end of the device is provided with a set of smaller hoops, e e 0, connected by strips of tape, 11 i or other similar material, and covered, except at the centre, with mosquito-netting.
Around the centre is an annular binding, of cotton or linen cloth, m, provided with an elastic cord, n, along its inner edge, which draws it close around the person of the wearer.
The device is placed over the head, shoulders, and arms, the elastic cord coming around the waist, or just under the arms, if preferred, as represented in the drawing. 1
On one side, one or more of the rods 0 0 may be omitted, so that the sleeper will lie. more easily while wearing this article in bed.
The device is very simple and cheap, and can be carried in a common travelling-bag, and used whenever and wherever wanted.
Having thus described my invention,
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
As an article of manufacture, the above-described device, consisting substantially of the parts a c e c m a, covered as described, and constructed and arranged in the manner and for the purposes set forth.
The above specification of my invention signed by me, this 1st day of May, 1869.
, R. THEMAR.
