Description

J. W. HEINRIOHS.
DRAPERY 0R CURTAIN POLE FIXTURE. APPLICATION FILED JULY 19,1907.

JOSEPH W. I-IEINRIGHS, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
DRAPERY GR CURTAIN LPOLE FIXTURE.
Application filed July 19, 1907.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented April 6, 1909.
Serial No. 384,538.
T c all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH W. RICHS, a citizen of the United States, re
Illinois, have invented certain new and useful 3 Improvements in Drapery or Curtain Pole 1 Fixtures, of which the following scription.
porting drapery, or curtain poles, or the in position, providing reliable f oning tor the same, from which when desired i may be readily detached.
requiring no adjustment of the pole or fixtures to detach the same from each To this end my invention consists: in the novel construction, arrangement and combination of parts heroin shown and described and more particularly pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings wherein like or similar reference characters indicate like or corresponding parts, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a simple form of my device as seen from the inner side and in front. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the same form as seen from the outer side front. Fig. 3 is a view similar to that shown in Fig. 1 with a curtain pole or rod shown in operative position therewith. Fig. 4 is a view similar to Fig. 1 showing a fixture adapted to support one end of a plurality of parallel poles or rods. Fig. 5 is an elevation of the upper portion of a window or door frame equipped with my device.
In the preferred form shown in the drawings, my device comprises a substantially flat base 1, provided with suitable openings 22 or equivalent means whereby the same may be rigidly secured in position. A flange 3 is provided upon the face of the base 1 extending longitudinally thereof and projecting substantially at right angles from its face, and preferably positioned near one edge thereof. A socket 4 is rigidly attached to one side of the flange 3 with its walls extending at substantially right angles thereto so that a pole or rod, one end of which is engaged in the socket will normally extend substantially 1parallel with the base 1. The socket 4 may e formed in any suitable man ner. As shown, a strip or plate 5 of suitable size to admit the end of the pole,
a portion of the plate extending to 1 and rigidly secured thereto. .iln o e is provided between the pa l end of the plate 5 preferably 0' cient which.
, the fixture is adapted, the pole being introldy invention relates to means for supduced into the socket through the opening,
; the part 6 forming a substantially horizontal shelf upon which the extremity of the pole f may lie while its opposite end is being positioned in the socket.
lhe object of my invention is to produce strong and duraliile (lerice of the kind described and one wherein the pole or red securely held in )lace when in position and In the pre errezl construction shown the 6 is pr tioned slightly above thelowcr of the socket and forms a continuation e wall thereof that a" I r a pole is inii sorted the socket it must b levated and i the base to e at t scene time moved ton a d detach the same therefrom.
he base 1, flange 3 and plate 5 may be rigidly connected in any desired manner or formed of any suitable material. In the construction shown the several parts are formed integral, each fixture being cast in a single piece, but I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to this construction.
In the form shown in Fig. 4 my device is arranged for supporting a lurality of substantially parallel poles. When thus constructed an extension 3 is provided upon the flange 3 and a second socket a substantially of the same general construction as the socket 4, is provided the parts being so arranged that with the fixture as usually placed, the two poles will be at substantially the same height. The plate 5 forming the second socket having its extended or shelf part 6 attached directly to the outer face of the first socket and operating in all respects substantially the same as the first socket, above described.
The operation of my device is believed to be obvious from the drawings and foregoing description and no further explanation of the same is required.
Iaving thus described my invention, it is obvious that various immaterial modifications may be made in my device without departing from the s irit of my invention, hence I do not wis to be understood as limiting myself to the exact form and construction shown.
l Vhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A device of the kind described, comprising a base, a flange rojecting from said base art extendm a on the side of said flange, rigidly attached to said flange and base, and arranged to form a socket near the flange with its outer end curved downward outer end of said flange, with its inner and upper side open, whereby a rod engaged in said socket must be simultaneously raised. and moved toward said base to detach the same from said socket.
2. A device of the kind described, comprising a base, a flange formed integrally with and projecting from the base, a part formed integrally with said base and flange and eX- tending along the side of the flange and curved first downwardly and then in a circular course to form a socket with its inner and upper side open, whereby a rod engaged in said socket must be simultaneously raised and moved toward said baseto detach the same from said socket.
3. A device of the kind described, comprising a base, a projecting flange formed in-- tegrally with said base, a part formed integrally with said base and flange and ex tending along the side of the flange to form a shelf with its outer end curved downward, and in a circular course to form a socket with its upper side adjacent said shelf open, whereby a rod engaged in said socket must be raised and moved toward said base parallel to the downwardly curved portion of said shelf, to detach the rod from said socket.
4. A device of the kind described, comprising a base, a projecting flange formed integrally with said base, a part formed integrally with said base and flange extending along the side of the flange to form a shelf intermediate the top and bottom of said and in a circular course to form a socket with its upper side adjacent said shelf open whereby a rod engaged in said socket must be raised and moved toward said base parallel to said shelf to detach the same from said socket.
5. A device of the kind described, comprising a base, a flange projecting at substantially right angles from said base having a plurality of sockets attached thereto the walls thereof being at substantially right angles to the plane of said flange, and arts each forming continuations of the wal s of one of said sockets extending between said sockets and the inner socket and said base respectively, a portion of the upper and inner side of each socket adjacent said extending part being open, whereby a rod engaged in any of said sockets must be simultaneously elevated and moved toward said base to detach the same from said socket.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto signed my name in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
