To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, HARRY i). lALLAoE, a citizen of the I lnited States, and a resident ol' hlinneapolis, county ol:l Hennepin, and
State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in ""atcr- Closet Vents, oilI which the Vfollowing is a specification.
The obj ect ol indT invention is to provide a hood Vl'or the upper end ol' a closet vent pipe, capable ol attachment to any pitch ol' rool' and adapted to receive a temporary plug, by means ol' which the pipe may be sealed during the operation ol' testing the system.
further object is to provide device which will positively prevent the entrance of sewer gas into the house from the vent pipe, and a l'urther object is to dispense with all lead and solder joints, usually employed with devices ol this kind.

l claim as my invention:
l. The combination with a pipe projecting therethrougl'i, of sleeve inclosing said vent pipe and spaced therei'rorn, a casting Iitting within the upper end of said sleeve and l'iaving a socket to receive the upper end of said vent pipe, and said casting having an opening therethrough registering with the opening in said vent pipe, and a test plug 'litting within the opening in said casting and temporarily sealing the upper end of said vent pipe.
2. The combination with a roof and a vent pipe projecting therethrough, oi a sleeve inclosing the upper end of said vent pipe and spaced therefrom, an interiorly threaded ring provided within said sleeve, an ext -riorly threaded casting 'fitting within said ring and having an opening therethrough and a socket to receive the upper end of said. vent pipe, and a test plug litting within the opening in said casting, and temporarily sealing the upper end of said vent pipe for the purpose specified.
3. T he combination with a rooic and a vent pipe projecting therethrough, of a hood having a section inclosing said vent pipe and spaced therefrom, a sleeve also inclosing said vent pipe and having a telescopic conrool and vent neetioii with said hood section, and a test plug .adapted to be mounted in the upper end oi" said sleeve and verticallT adjustable therewith to adapt the device to vent pipes ol' different height, substantially as described.
4f. The combination with a vent pipe, of a sleeve inolosing the saine, a cap for the open end ol' said sleeve having e lieiiiietir-,ally sealed joint with said vent pipe and a test plug removably mounted on said eep and ten'iporarily closingl the open end of said vent pipe.

6. The combination, with roof end a vent pipe, of a jaolet, a sleeve mounted on said jacket and inelosing said pipe and eX- tending to the top thereof and spaced therefrom to prevent formation of frost on seid pipe, and a cap closing1 the space between said pipe and sleeve and having a removable test plug above the open end of said pipe.

The Combination, With a roof and a vent pipe pifoiecting therethrough, of e jacket, a sleeve mounted on said j aelet and arranged to oscilla-te thereon to adept it to roofs ol" diflerent pitch, seid sleeve inolosing the upper portion of said pipe and spaced from the Walls thereof to prevent formation o frost on said pipe, and a test plug Carried by said cap and pipe and temporarily closing` the top of said pipe, substantially es described. y
