MOSES B. DISKIN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
PAPER.
- Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented March 9, 1909.
Application filed June 6, 1907. Serial No. 377,509.
oughly steaming the said material before it York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Paper; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the inventlon, such as wlil goes to the beating and grinding machines.
3 The object in steaming the material prelimiuarv to the grinding process is to ehminatc all ill-smelling substances, tastes, etc., therefrom and to thereby tend to purify the same.
It will thus be seen that my ob ect in making paper of tobacco fiber is forthe purpose enable others skilled in the art to which it apcigarettes with a paper made of real tobacco pertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to new and useful unprovements in the production of paper and it is an object of the invention to produce a novel paper to be employed in con unction with the manufacture of cigarettes.
By the use of my paper, formulated or manufactured in the manner hereinafter set forth and employed in making the casing or wrapper of a cigarette, I am enabled to Wholly avoid the injurious and baneful effects due to the employment of paper as now made, and I therefore call particular attention in this way to the importance and value of my discovery.
My invention consists in employing tobacco stems, clippings, veins, etc., which parts are usually regarded simply as refuse and thoroughly steaming the waste parts until all deleterious matters therein have been removed and then reducing the residue to a pulp andconvert thegiulp into paper in the usual ,or any preferre manner, the pul ing process being performed bythe usual machinery re ared for that purpose.
T e rst step in my process of utilizing the material above mentioned consistsin thorof replacing the paper now generally used on and thereby avoid all injurious and harmful effects now common, due to the inhaling of the smoke from ordinary paper.
It will thus be seen that have provided a means for usingwhat is now a worthless sub stance and converting it into an article of great commercial value, thereby creating practically a new industry.
After thus fully setting forth and describing my invention further description is deemed unnecessary.
What I claim as new and desire by Letters-Patent is:
The production of to secure paper from tobacco Waste consisting in thoroughly steaming the waste until all deleterious matter therein has been removed, reducing the residue to a pulp and then converting the pul into a paper.
In testimony whereof I ave signed my name tothis specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
