Description

W. SGHAPPBR. HAIR FRAME, PAD, 0R ROLL POR LADIES USBI APPLIATION FILED JULY 20, 1908.
1HE NoRRIs PETER: ca., wAsmNmaN, u4 c.
WOOLF SCHAFFER, OF LONDON, ENGLAND.
HAIR FRAIVIE, PAD, OR ROLL FOR LADIES USE.
Specification oi Letters Patent.
Application filed July 20, 1908.
Patented March 2, 1909.
Serial N0. 444,381.
To all 'whom 'it may concern.
Be it known that I, WooLF SCHAFFER, a subject of t 1e King of Great Britain, residing at London, England, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hair Frames, Pads, or Rolls for Ladies Use, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improved construction of hair frame, pad or roll for ladies use, whereby such article is made cheaply, light in .veiglit, flexible in character, and capable of being manipulated without being altered or losing its shape or contour.
My invention will be clearly. understood from the following description aided by the accompanying drawings, .vhich show several examples of my invention but it must be l understood that frames, pads or rolls of! other shapes can be made.
Figure l. is a side elevation of a hair pad or roll (broken) one part showing the interior tube partly in section. Fig. 2. is a vieu* of a hair frame. Fig. 3. is a cross section of Figs. l or 2. Fig. et. is a cross section of a D shaped hair pad, frame or roll. Fig. 5. is a cross section of a triangle shaped hair pad, frame or roll.
For the purpose of my invention, .l make the foundation or center A of hollov.'v or tubular formation from open or close meshed fabric or paper or other Wireless material, plaited or creased, so as to form a bellows like tube. Around this tube or core A I wind, wrap or otherwise arrange hair, silk, or other fibrous material B resembling hair, and of a color to suit ladies hair, said fibrous l material B being inclosed and held on the tube A by a tubular net C of the same color, the net C being practically invisible as a net. The ends of the tubular net may be secured by any means. lhe tube or core A may be slightly stiffened if the material is of an easily collapsible nature, and will not by itself hold itself in tube formation, and by plaiting it in bellows form as at Fig. l, it can be bent in any position to suit the style of hair dressing without fear of its collapsing or stretching and breaking the net or disarranging the fibrous material.
l prefer to construct the core from a strip of fabric, then plait it across its length, and then make it into tubular form on a rod or otherwise, and stick or seW the edges together to form the tube. The tube or core l can be made of any shape and length, either one long tube as at Fig. l, or crescent shaped as at Fig. 2 or otherwise, and in cross section it may also be of any shape.
W hat i do claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A hair frame, pad or roll for ladies use, consisting of a plaited bellows like tube surrounded by librous material and a tubular net substantially as set forth.
ln testimony whereof I have hereunto set s my hand 1n presence of -tWo subscribing Witnesses.
VVOOLF SCHAFFE R.
YWitnesses WM. O. BROWN, FREDK. L. HUToHrNs.
