The telescopic pusher-The 'telescopic pusher consists of an' outer member and an inner member, these members being approximately the length of the machine and are substantially rectangular in cross section. The outer member comprises flanged .side plates 32 connected by a top plate 33. The forward end of the member is provided with a pusher head 34 reinforced, as at 35 and braced as at 36. The outer member is provided with uprights 37 connected by transverse angle bars 38 supporting upon their outer ends shoes 39, these shoes supportinpr the forward end of the outer member upon the revoluble frame, While the rear end of the outer member is supported by the rear end of the inner member. The inner member comprises flanged side plates 40 and a top plate 41. The inner sides of the plates 32 of the outer member arevprovided with Wheels 42 adapted to travel upon the anges 43 of the lplates 40. The rear end of the inner member is provided with a cross head 44, the ends of which are provided with flanged wheels 45 adapted to travel upon the side rails 20 of the revoluble frame. The cross head 44 intermediate its ends is provided with a bearing 46 for two shafts 47 and 48, upon which are journaled sheaves 49 and4 50. rThe rear end of the outer member is provided with av transverse plate 51 supporting the bearing 52,- for a shaft 53 upon which is revolubly mounted a sheave 54. The 'forward end of the innermember is provided with a shaft 55 for a revoluble sheave 56. The forward `end of the revoluble frame is providedA with a revoluble sheave 57 and with a transverse stop 58 adapted to limit the forward movement of the cross head 44 and the inner member by contacting with the bearing 46. Adapted to travel over the sheaves previously mentioned are cables which will be presently described.
The operating mechanism-Upon the platform 24 is located an electric motor 59 and coupled to the armature shaft of said motor as at 60 is a worm 61 meshing with a gear Wheel 62 mounted upon a vertical shaft 63, journaled in a bearing 64 supported from the platform 24. The lower end of the shaft 63 extends through a suitable bearing 65 carried by the revoluble frame andis provided with a pinion 66 meshing with the circular rack 15. The operation of the motor 59 is controlled by a conventional controller 67 located upon the platform 24.
The platform 24 is provided with an opening 68 and surrounding this opening is a rectangular bearing or frame 69 for supporting revoluble drums 70 and 71, these drums being operated simultaneously by a train of gears 72 driven by an electric motor 73, the operation of which is controlled by :mother controller 74, located upon the platform 24 adjacent to the controller 67. Another controller 7 5 is placed upon the platform 24 for controlling; the operation of the motor 14 of the carriage 1. The platform 24 is provided with hangers 76 for revoluble sheaves 77 and 7 8. This arrangement of the cable is best shown in Fig'. 9, wherein the arrangement of the cables is diagrammatically illustrated. General operation- Assuming 'that our coke pushing machine has been pushed in front of a coke oven and the door thereof opened, the operator of the machine located upon the `platform 24 at. the controllers67, 74 and 75 manipulates the controller 74 to place the motor 73 in'operation in the direction to wind the cable 79 upon the drum'- 70 and unwind the.cable 81 from thedrum 71, it beingunderstood that these cables are of a sutlicientilengtlr to permit of the drums -70 and 71 operating in unison.- AS the cable upon the inner member.

To swing the revoluble frame around whereby an oven yupon the opposite side can be operated upon, the operator manipulates the controller 6?, which through the medium of the -motor59, worm 61, wheel 62, shaft 63, pinion 66, and rack 15, swings the frame around into the desired position. As heretofore stated controller 75 is employed in connection with the motor la and the trolley 19 for moving the entire machine upon the "rails 1l.
It is thought that the utility and operation of the coke pushing machine will be fully understood from the foregoing description, and we reserve the right to make any such changes in the construction of the same as fall Within the scope of the appended claims.

A coke pushing machine embodying a movable carriage, a circular rack carried thereby, a frame revolubly mounted upon said carriage, a superimposed platform carried by said frame, a telescopic pusher located upon said frame, said pusher comprising an inner member, an outer member movably mounted upon said inner member, a pusher head carried by the forward end of said outer member, a cross head carried by the rear end of said inner member and adapted to travel upon said frame, means for simultaneously moving said'members and moving said outermember independent of said inner .member, said means including sheaves, drums located upon said platform, cables connecting with said drums and passing over said sheaves and connecting with said frame and with said outer member, a motor for operating .said drums: means carried by said platform and engaging said rack for revolving said traine, and means located upon said platform i'or controlling the operation of said motors and the movement of said carriage.

3. A coke pushing machine embodying a movable carriage, a circular rack carried thereby, a frame revolubly mounted upon said carriage, a superimposed platform carried by said'frame, a telescopic pusher located upon said frame, said pusher comprising an inner member, an outer member movably mounted upon said inner member, a pusher head carried by the forward end of said outer member, a cross head carried by the rear end of said inner member and adapted to travel upon said frame, means for simultaneously moving said members and for moving said outer member inde` pendent of said inner member, said means" including sheaves, .drums located upon said platform, cables connecting with said drums .and passing over said sheaves and connectingsaid frame with said outer member, and a motor for operating said drums.
