Description

- A. A. SMITH.
ADJUSTABLE CURTAIN 0B. SHADE FIXTURE.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA 8.
908,810; Patented Jan. 5,1909.
UNITED STATES PATENT ASA A. SMITH, 01* MALAGA, NEW JERSEY.
ADJUSTABLE CURTAIN OR SHADE FIXTURE.
Application filed January 6, 1908.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Asa A. SMITH, a. citizen of the United States, residing at lilalaga, in the county of Gloucester, State of New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Adjnstable Curtain or Shade Fixture, of which the following is a specification.
My invention consists of a curtain shade fixture composed of a plurality of members attachable to a sash frame, so as to be movable therewith, and so not to interfere with the lowering or raising of said frame, nor afi'ect ventilation when said frame is lowered, provision being also made and from the sash fran'ie according to the requirements of the curtain or shade.
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of an adjustable curtain or shade fixture embodying my invention. Fig. 2 represents a perspective view of the fixture detached and on an enlarged scale. Figs. 23 and i represent perspective views of the members of thc fixture in se )arated condition.
Similar letters of. reference indicate corresponding parts in the figures.
For the purpose of explaining my invention, the accompanying drawing illustrates Sp eeificetion of Letters Patent.
l I l l l i i l i l i l a satisfactory reduction of the same to prac- 5 tire, but. the important instrumentalities thereof may be varied, and so it is to be understood that the invention is not. limited to the specific. arrangement and organization shown and described.
Referring to the drawings designates i an elbow-shaped member. in the inner limb A 01' which are a plurality of openings B by which said member is adapted to be screwed or otherwise. secured to a window sash. The outer limb A of said member has its upper and lower portions bent laterally l'ormlng flanges t". said limb having also an elougateu slot l) therein. the same intersecting lhc space bclwcen said llangcs.
'lhc member ['1 is-doublc elbow-shaped, its inner limb l being solid and 't'our-sldcd and has its bearing on the outer limb A of the member between the [hinges t, it. being ndjuslably and dclachably secured to said member by means of the screw (i, which Patented Ian. 5, 1909.
Serial No. 409,407.
passes through the opening H in the limb i and the slot D, and in order to be tightcued. has a seat in the o enin H and the nut J. The outer end of t e lim A is open, so that the limb F may readily slide in Said limb for purpose of a plication, adjustment and removal. It will the members as heretofore described, are duplicated, so that there is a fixture eonuceted with each side of a sash frame and secured thereto.
The outer limbs of the members E, are
adapted to receive and support the godgoons of a curtain or shade roller, 1t bemg for ad usting the members of the hxt-nre to at the top of said sash when in lowered con- 11 dition. in some cases, it is desirable to apply the member E to the member A without. entire removal of the screw G. To this end. the slot ll is elongated in the direction at a right angle to the slot I) and 0 en to the edge ol the limb I so that. sai limb may he slipped over said screw, the latter being sutliciently loosened. the effect of which will be apparent on reference to Fig. 2.
Having thus described my invention, what i claim as new and desire to secure by Letters latent. isi---- .\n improved window curtain fixture comprising an elbow shaped member having an opening in one end portion. a bearing in the lace of the other portion open at its outer end and an elongated slot intersecting the bearing. a double elbow shaped member having one limb provided with a transversely disposed open ended slot. said limb being rcecivcd in aid bearing with its slot intersecting said elongated slot. a screw passed through said slots. and a nut receiv ing the end of said screw and bearing a 'ainst the adjacent face of the. adjacent mem r.
