Description

K SBITER AUTOMATIU DRINKING FOUNTAIN.
APPLICATION FILED Patented Jan.5,-1 909.
' l from the inner KASSON SEETER, OF NEW ULM, MINNESOTA AUTOMATIC DBINKING FOUNTAIN.
No. eossoe.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented in. 5, 1909.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, KAssoN SEITER, a citizen of the United States, residing New Ulm in the county of Brown and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Automatic Drinking-Fountains, of which the following is a specification. 3
This invention relates to a drinking fountain designed especially for use in cold is kept warm by a lamp 13 placed within the base 1, the heated air in said base coming into contact with the bottom of the reservoir 8 and also by reasgnofthe erforations in the flange 4 withthe'bottom oi the trough 7.
ln use -th'e' reservoir 8 is filled with waterarid the faucet 12 is opened and water discharges into the trough 7 until it reaches the lower end of the air pipe 11. lower end of, this pipe becomes water sealed When 1 the.
weather, the obiect of the fountain being to no additional air will enter the reservoir 8 furnish drinking water to poultry during the winter time when water in fountains of the usual construction is-frozenl The invention consists of the novel features oiconstruction hereinafter described, pointed out in the claim and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the complete device. i-Tig. 2 is a sectional view through the complete device. Fig.3 is a detail perspecti. o view showing the upper portion of the base and the drinking trough, a art of the latter being broken away. he invention consists of .a cylindrical base 1 which forms a lamp chamber and which is provided with a door 2 and an. opening 3 for ventilation, and this base is opened at the top being provided at its upper edge with an interior, annular, perforated flange edge of which rises a collar 5 supported in place by suitable braces 6. A circular trough '7 surrounds the sleeve 5 and rests upon the flange A cylindrical water reservoir 8 rests upon a flange of;the collar 5 and is provided with depending legs 8 to support it u n placed upon the ground. it provided with the usual fillingvent closed by threaded plug 9 which in turn is covered by cap 10. An air tube 11 opens at the top within tliereservoir 8 and at the 1 c 1 i oottorn opens downwardly in. too trough 7 and at the desired water level. A valvecontrolled faucet 12 discharges water from the reservoir 8 into the trough. The water will be admitted into the pipe 11 and an additional discharge will take place through the faucet 12, which is left open While t e fountain is in use, thus maintaining the water at all times within the trough upon the level of the lower end of the air pipp until the supply has been exhausted. In t e summer the fountain can be used for small chicks b setting the trough 7 upon the ground wit the reservoir 8 resting within it, and the supoorting legs 8 prevent the air tube 11 from eing brought into contact with the-ground when the reservoir 8 base.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is A. device of the kind described comprising a'base having a perforated flange, a collar carried flange, a circular trough resting upon the flange, a reservoir slip orted on the collar, a faucet discharging pm the.
reservoir into the trough, and an air pipe.
opening at its upper end into the upper portion of the reservoir and opening downwardly into the trough at a predetermined ose set' forth. SEIT ER is removed from the
