T 0 all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, GUsTAF J. ANDERSON, citizen of the United States, residing at Allston, in the county of Sufiolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dia hragms for Recorders and Reproducers; an I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to sound recording and reproducing instruments such as phonoraphs and graphophones and more articul arly to certain improvements in t e diaphragms ofthe recorders and re roducers,

the object being to roduce a iaphragm which will be en tlrely ree from the frying or scratching so common in these instruments as now constructed and one which will reproduce the sounds clear and resonant and entirely free of the Objectionable frying pr scratching s'ounds.

Many attempts have been made to eliminate the objectionable frying. or scratching sounds in these instruments but as yet no one seems to have solved the problem and in conso uence What would be in other respects a perfect machine and a source of much leasure to the listener is marred by the frymg and scratching'sounds of thediaphragms To the end of producing a sound recording and reproducing apparatus which shall be entirely free from the objectionable noises referred to, my invention consists of the diaphragm which will now be described and claimed.
