Be it known that I, CHARLEs WV. BREW- STER, a citizen of the United States, resident of Sierra Madre, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have made a certain new and useful Invention in Fruit- Pickers Receptacles; and I declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the invention, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the invention with the spout extension in line with the receptacle. Fig. 2 is a similar view with the spout extension closed and the supporting shoulder strap removed. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the framing, the hinged supporting rods for the spout extension being shown as moved to one side as in closed position of spout extension, in dotted lines.

The invention has relation to sacks for fruit pickers, having for its object certain improvements upon the device of my Patent Number 853,763, bearing date May 14, 1907, designed to simplify the construction and render the manufacture less expensive, without in any way impairing the usefulness of the invention.

The invention consists in the novel construction and combinations of parts as hereinafter set forth.

In the accompanying drawings, illustrating the invention, the letter a, designates a light metal frame work shown as of flat metal and consisting of an inner concave bar or rod 0/, a convex outer bar a and connecting end or brace bars a and a. Hinged to the front end of the framing at b, are curved rods 0, shown as formed of wire, each having its outer end bent into the form of eye or loop (1. Hung from the framing is a canvas sack or receptacle e, having its inner and outer walls 6, and 6 respectively concave and convex to conform to the shape of the corresponding frame bars, such sack having a rear end wall 6 and having its bottom and side walls extended at the front at 0 to form an open spout extension f, when the hinged rods 0, having pivotal connection with the forward ends of the frame bars a, and a and from which such extensions are supported, are swung into line with the side frame bars. cord g, encircles such spout extension at its outer end portion, passing over the same and engaging leather loops or eyes h, carried by the canvas walls thereof, such cord acting to limit the spread of the hinged rods 0, when the spout extension is formed. A front strap 4,, has connection with the inner top rear corner of the receptacle at i, and carries at its free or outer end a snap hook j, designed to engage the top portion of the cord g, which passes over the spout.

K, is a supporting shoulder strap comprising a doubled canvas strap 7c, the doubled end of which is connected with the top outer rear corner of the framing by a leather strap Z, the two ends of such canvas strap being connected by a leather strap m, having slidable engagement with the rear loop end a, of a snap hook 0, having detachable engagement with a staple or eye p, upon the front end bar a, of the framing. Thus when the device is in position upon the person of the picker the slidable engagement of the strap m, of the shoulder strap with the snap hook 0, acts to equalize the load.

Whenthe front strap i, is connected with the encircling cord g, of the spout extension, the device being in position upon the person, the lengths of the parts are such that the hinged rods 0, will be drawn inward until they are at approximately right angles to the side walls of the receptacle, the canvas walls of such spout extension being at the same time closely drawn over the previously open front end of the receptacle to close the same.

Having described the invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A fruit pickers receptacle of curved form having an open top, a supporting frame provided with hinged rods at its front end said rods having free outer ends, a flexible receptacle hung from said frame and having an open top, and side and bottom wall extensions hung from said hinged rods and adapted to form a spout extension in line with the receptacle, said hinged rods and side and bottom wall extensions being normally folded to close the front end of the receptacle, a draw cord for said spout extension, and a front strap having connection at one end thereof with the rear end portion of said frame, and having detachable connection with said draw cord to maintain the closure of the front end of the receptacle.

2. A fruit ickers receptacle of curved form having a ight metal frame, including a concave inner bar, a convex-outer bar, l con necting end brace bars, and hinged rods at its front end said rods having free outer ends, a flexible receptacle suspended from said frame, having an open top, and side and bottom wall extensions hung from said hinged rods and adapted to form a spout extension in line with the receptacle, an encircling draw cord for said spout extension, capable with the rear end portion of said frame, and having detachable connection with said draw cord to maintain the closure of the front end of the receptacle, and a supporting shoulder strap.
