Description

No. 894,448. 4 PATENTED-JULY 2a, 1908.
R. c. KRUSOHKE.
POCKET PENCIL AND PEN HOLDER.
I APELIOAT ION FILED SEPT. 24. 1906.
' INVENTEIR WITNEEIEEE: Y
i BY v l 4 W/m ATTY RUDOLPH C. KRUSCHKE, OF DULUTH, MINNESOTA.
POCKET PENCIL AND PEN HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented'July 28, 1908.
Application filed September 24, 1906. Serial No. 385,871.
To all whom it may concern:
'Be it known that I, RUDoLrHC. KRUSCHKE,
' a citizen of the United States, residin at Duluth, in the county of St. Louis and state of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pocket Pencil and Pen Holders, of which the following isfa specification.
This invention relates to improvements in pencil and pen holdin devices adaptedto be used in securing penc' in the pockets of the users.
The especial object of the improvements which form the subject matter of this application is to so simplify the construction of the device that it may be cheaply manufactured and at the same time provide means for securely attaching the holder to the users pocket and permit its ready removal when desired. Having these and other objects of general utility in view I have produced the device hereinafter described and which is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in
which I I I Figure 1 shows in elevation the application of my invention; Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the holder alone, and Fig. 3 is a cross-section on the line'3-3 of Fig. 2.
Referring to the drawing in detail, '4 represents a ortion of a garment, of which 5 indicates t e hem or upper edge of a pocket to which my pencil and pen holder is attached by the lever clasps 11, the latter'being of well known construction and operation.
Any other style of readily detacha le clasp might be substituted for that shown.
The holder consists of a single sheet metal of suitable thickness, an quality andhaving more or less spring or temper. This is'first cut to form a b ank from which extend a plurality of ton ues 9. This blank is then stampedby suita 'le dies to formthe corrugations 6, 7 and 8 as clearly shown in Fig. 3, and the tongues are bent inwardly,
and-their free ends outwardly as at 10. The
iece of blank is then edges soldered or otherwise secured together, thus forming a series of vertical cylindrical pockets which are separated from each .otherby the inwardly bent portions 7 and 12 which meet as shown in Fig. 3 but are not" connected together, thereby permitting more or less expansion between the opposed sides of thedevice when pencilsor pens are pushed into 'the cylindrical pockets.
The ton ues extend toward the pockets and their ree ends frictionally engage the pens or pencils with a tension depending upon the quality of the metal of which the device is made.
Having thus described'my invention what I claim, is
1. A holder of the class described, consisting of a'single piece of metal cut to form integral spring tongues andh'aving a series of parallel corrugations formed therein and bent upon itself so that'said corrugations form pockets, cylindrical in cross section at their upper portions, and also having integrally formed tongues which project toward the lower portions of said pockets, and means bent upon itself and. its free for attaching said holder to a garment, substantially as described.
2. A holder of the class described, consisting of a single piece of metal cut to form a back and a front, and having a series of corrugations formed in the said back and front, .so arranged as to register to form a plurality of pockets, cylindrical in cross section at their upper portions, and a part of the front cut to rovide a plurality of depending tongues, ent to project toward said pockets below the cylindrical portions thereof and means for supporting said holder.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
RUDOLPH O. KRUSCHKE.
