To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WILSON .l. REMALY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Nazareth, in the county of Northampton and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain newand useful Improvements in Toy Air-Ships; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to improvements in toy air ships or balloons.

The object of the invention is to provide a device of this character constructed and arranged to produce an interesting and amusing toy.

\Vith the foregoing object in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, com bination and arrangement of parts, as will be more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a side view of a toy constructed in accordance with the invention; Fig. 2 is a vertical, longitudinal sectional view of the car or body of the ship; and Fig. 3 is a plan view of the same.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 denotes the cai" or body portion of the air ship, said car being here shown, and, is, preferably, in the shape of an open boat, and is constructed of any suitable material. Arranged in the upper portion of the boat is a central longitudinally disposed brace strip, 2, which is connected at its opposite ends in the ends of the boat. Midway between the opposite ends of the boat is a transversely disposed brace strip, 3, which crosses the brace rod 2, as shown.

Arranged above the car, 1, is a balloon or gas bag 4, said balloon being preferably tapered or pointed at its opposite ends, as shown. The balloon 4 is secured to the car or boat 1 by straps or hands, 5, which pass around the balloon adjacent to its opposite ends and extend downwardly and are secured to the longitudinally disposed brace strip 2 in the car. In the center of the bottom of the boat or car is formed an opening through which is inserted the end of a holding string or cord, 6, said end being secured to the strip 3. The cord 6 may be of any desired length, but is preferably about ten feet, and at the free end of thesarne is attached a weight, 7, which is sufficiently heavy to hold the balloon down, and, when it is desired to anchor the ship, or hold the same on the ground, the weight is placed in'the boat. When the air ship is in use the weight is removed from the boat and allowed to rest on the ground, or other surface, thus limiting the up- Ward movement of the air ship to the length of the cord, the weight serving to prevent the air ship from getting away from the child playing with the same.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation of the invention may be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation. Various changes in the form, proportion and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention as defined in the appended claims.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is:

A toy air ship comprising a boat-shaped car, a longitudinal brace strip extending through the center of the car from end to end, a transverse brace strip arranged between said ends of the car and intersecting said longitudinal strip, an elliptically-shaped balloon arranged above the car. fastening bands or strips arranged around said balloon and secured to the transverse brace strip of the car. a holding cord connected at one end to said transverse brace strip and a holding weight secured to the outer end of the cord, substantially as described.
