TOILET PAPER HOLDER. APPLICATION FILED JUNE 20,1906.
WITIVE SSES:
UNITED? STATES PATENT enrich.
WILLIAM LAZAR, OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, ASSIGNOR OFONE-HALF TO HERMAN I.
NAGER, OF OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA, AND ONE-HALF CISGO, CALIFORNIA/ TO SOLOMON LAZAR, OF SAN FRAN- TOILET-PAPER HOLDER.
Patented Jan. 21, 1908.
Application filed June 20. 1906- Serial No. 322.561.
To all whom 'it may concern:
1 Be it known that I, WILLIAM LAZAR, citizen of United States, residing in the city and county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Toilet-Paper Holders, of which the following is a specification.
. My invention relates to toilet paper holders and es ecially to a pocket holder for travelers an others.
My Object is to provide a paper holder which is simple, cheap, compact and attractive in afppearance and ads ted to hold a bunch 0 )aper whereof the lieaves are se arated and interfolded in such fashion t at when one leafis .drawn through a suitable slot in one side of the holder, the next succeeding sheet will have an ed e presented whereby it in turn can be with rawn; .these sheets being se arately, singly and successively removal) e.
The invention consists in the parts and the combination of arts hereinafter more fully described and c aimed, having reference to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the imroved box. Fig. 2 1s a plan view of the preerred form blank. Fig. 3 shows the manner of folding the sheets of the package.
In carryin piece of car .board of suitable wei ht and having a front area A a back 2 and a 'cover portion 3 with suitab e res ective side and end flaps 4=-5 to permit t e blank later to be folded and secured in the pro er manner to constitute the pa er box or he der.
The side and end aps 45 and the back 2 are connected to the frontrA by suitable panel ortions 6 corres onding to "the desired t ickness or depth of the completed holder. I The cover ortion 3 and back? are connected by a slim ar panel 7'; The blank Having thus described my invention, what is folded along. the various dotted lines 8.
The front A has a longitudinal central slot 9v through which the sheets of the contained package in the complete holder are to be withdrawn.
In constructing my box I prefer to use the blank shown in Fig. 2, because it enables the outside of theend 5 to be pasted down on the part marked 2' of the back 2 before the box outmy invention, I take a' blank ent, is-
is sent out from the factory leaving onl the insertion of the ackage of paper an the proper folding oi the flaps 4 and cover 3 when the box is being filled.
With the package of paper inserted between the front A andback 2, the flaps 5 of Fig. 2 are tucked in under the back 2, the cover flap 3 brought over the slotted front A and the tan 3 inserted into the slit a in the front A. his constitutes the completed package ready for the market. In order to get at the paper-it is only necessar to fold the cover 3 backward to disclose t e slot 9 leaves interfolded Fig. 3 so that when a ortion of a leaf as 11 projectsthrough the s 0t 9 it can be engaged and withdrawn leaving the edge of the next sheet projecting through the slot; thus presenting each sheet successively and permitting the withdrawal of just one sheet at a time.
' The holder which is made from a single sheet of paper or like suitable bendable material, comprises when filled and set up a box with six sides, entirel inclosed except for the slot 9 and rovide with the cover flap 3 integral with t e body ofthe box.
The object of the cover flap 3 is. simpl to .pr'otect the loose end of the projecting s set when the holder is not in use, and to disguise the real nature of the package: thus rendering the use of the device unobjectionable as a pocket holder for travelers and others.
Where the holder is to be used for instance in shaving, it may be desired to hang the holder up and therefore I may cut a suitable slitl2'in the back portion 2 of the blank so that a tang 13 may be folded outward from the completed and filled box: the tang being perforated as at '14 to allow the holder to be' ung on a nail or the like.
I claim and desire to secure by Letters Pat- A blank for a paper-holder said blank consisting of a sheetfashioned to provide a front portion and a back portion with an interme-' diate panel corresponding to the depth of the box, and a. cover portion, said front having corresponding panels on its remaining three sides, and ha ving a longitudinal central slot,
said cover portion bein foldably connected my hand in presence of two subscribing wit- In testimony whereof I have hereunto set to the back portion on a ine which is at rightnesses. s angles to the length of the panel between the I WILLIAM 5 front and back portions, and said back por- Witnesses:
tion and one of the side panels of the front GEO. T. KNOK, portion adapted to be connected. HENRY IBsE
