' Referring to the drawings, 1 represents a' gas delivery pipe which is provided with a coupling 2 from which depends the gas delivery pipe extension 3. At the lowerend of this extension 3 is the valve casing 4. The delivery pipe 5 connects the valve casingtothe gas delivery ring-6, the parts being the same'in a general structure as described in my application for patent above referred to.
The chimney 7 is providedwith an outwardly-proat the outer edge.thereof.' Themain burner 10 is arranged through the flange 8 and connected to the gas delivery ring. The mantle 11 is suspended from the mantle holder 12. The chimneyis preferably supportedirom the gas delivery pipe 3, the clip or strap'l3 being arranged to embrace the pipe and being secured thereto by means of suitablecollars, as 14. An outer casing, as 15, is provided, above which is a reflector plate 16, the reflector plate being supported on the supply pipe, as appears from the drawing. I
The globe-supporting band 17 for the globe 20 is pivotally'secured to the depending hinge member 8 on the valve casing by means of a suitable pivot 19. The casing 15 is preferably supported by resting upon the casing band 21, which is mounted on the chimney flange 8. These parts-are substantially the same as thosedescribed in my application for patent above referred to, but it will be readily understood that my improved valve is adapted to use in various other rela- 'tions, and l-show the same in this connection merely to show its utility and application.
The valve casing 4 is provided with the inlet passage 22,:to which the gas delivery pipe 3 is connected to deliver and the discharge passage23, to which the delivery pipe 5 is connected. These passages are connected by the passage 24, which is controlled by the valve 25. Thisvalve is a rotary valve and is provided with two ports 26, arranged 'to be alternately brought intoregister with the passage 24 for opening the valve as it is rotated. On the stem 27 of the valve 25 is pivoted the valve operating lever 28. This lever ispreferably made up of three pieces, 29, 29 and 30, the part or piece 30 being riveted between the pieces 29, whereby they are held properly spaced. Between these pieces 29 I arrange the ratchet 33, which is secured to the valve stem. The valve lever is provided with a pawl 31 adapted to engage the ratchet 33, the pawl being arranged between the lever parts 29. A spring 34 is provided for holding the' pawl in its engaging posi- 'tion.
The ratchet is provided with four-teeth, it being secured on the stem in such a position that one motion of the lever will open the valve and the next close it.

. main burner valve lever is adapted to engage the pilot valve lever'when it has partially completed its stroke, thereby opening the pilot valve after the main burner valve is partially open., The pilot valve 43 is threaded into a cup-like valve casing 45, the-casingbeing in turn threaded into the main valve casing 4. This pilot valve casing 45 is provided with a port 46 through its' inner end and a passage 47 through one side tb ereof, to whichthe pilot burner 44 is connected.
The valve 43 is provided with a port 51, which is always open to supply-sufiicient gas to maintain thepilot. The delivery of the gas through this passage is com trolled by means of the screw valve 49, which is thread ed into the valve 43 from its outer end. This enables the accurate adjustment oithe port to regulate theflow of gas to the pilot. When the pilot valve lever 42 is aclevers 28 and 42 are so arrangedthatthe main valve is well as broadly.

When it is desired to cut off the gas or turn out the light, it is only necessary to again pull on theoperating chain, as 53, and the valves are closed.
My improved valve is very effective iorth'e purpose and is, at the same time, comparatively-simple and economical to produce, I have illustrated and described the same in detail in the form preferred by me on account of structural economy and'convenience in use.
