Description
'PATENTED SEPT. 3, 1907.
L. FIELDS, NECK YOKE ATTACHMENT FOR-TAKING UP VIBRATIONS.
APPLIOA'IION FILED MAR. 30, 1907.
JNVENTOR LESTER FIELDS, OF MONTFORT, WISCONSIN.
NECK-YOKE ATTACHMENT FOR TAKING UP VLBRATIONS.
' Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 3, 1907.
Application filed March 30,1907. Serial No. 365,520.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LESTER FIELDs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Montfort, in the county of Grant and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Neck-Yoke Attachments for Taking up Vibrations; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in attachments to breast straps for connection with neck yokes, and affords means wherebythe jar coining upon the pole to which the neck yoke is con nected may be taken up instead of being transmitted to the animal through the connection of the. harness,
and consists in various details of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claims.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the applica tion of the invention. Fig. 2 is a sectional view through the device. Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view, and Fig. 4 is a perspective view showing the application of a single spring-actuated device connecting a collar with a neck yoke.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a cylindrical shell having one end B closed, and O is a bail-shaped member which is fastened to said closed end and to which a strap D is adapted to be fastened, which strap is also adapted to be fastened either to the hame, as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings, or to a collar when used in connection with a light driving harness, as illustrated in Fig. 4 of the drawings.
E designates a second cylindrical shell having a flanged end E, said shell E being adapted to telescope within the shell A, and H is a coiled-spring, the inner end of which is fastened to the fixed end of the shell A, and its other end is secured to the closed end E of the cylinden E, the office of said spring being to normally hold the cylinder E within the cylinder A. The end E of the cylinder E projects beyond the circumference thereof and serves as a flange adapted to contact with the end of a shell A, as shown in the drawings.
K designates a bail-shaped member which is fastened to the end of the shell E and to which a strap N is fastened, which in turn is designed to be secured to the neck yoke O.
M designates an angled plate having a snap-hook N at each end thereof for attachment to a bail K where there are two of the spring-actuated devices utilized, as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings, in which case a strap R is passed about the angled portion of said plate and connected to the neck yoke.-
By the provision of a device as shown and described, it will be observed that a simple and efficient means is afforded for taking up jar incident to the swinging of the pole or tongue of a vehicle, instead of the vibrations being transmitted direct to the animal through the connections of the harness.
What I claim is:-
In combination with a hamc collar, casings, each having a threaded plug at one end, a bail pivot-ally connected to said plug, straps connecting the bails with the rings upon the haine, a spring-actuated plunger mounted Within each casing, a hail pivotally connected to each plunger, a double ended snap hook connecting the bails upon the plungers, a neck yoke and connection between the same and said snap hook, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afli'x my signature in the presence 01' two witnesses.
LESTER FIELDS.
Witnesses L. H. STEVENS, I A. CLARK.
