Description

Na. 864,154. PATENTED AUG. 27, 1907. P. BRAUER. DEVICE FOR ALARM AND DETECTING BURGLARY.
APPLICATION TILED JUNE 8, 1906.
WINCSS Q5.
PAUL BRAUER, OF WITTENBERGE, GERMANY.
DEVICE FOR ALARM AND DETECTING BURGLARY.
Speeificationof Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 27, 1907.
Application filed J 11116 8,1906. Serial No. 320,716.
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, PAUL BRAUER, a subject of the German Emperor, and a resident of No. 47 Lenzenerstrasse, Wittenberge, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in and Relating to a Device for .Alarm and Detecting Burglary, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to a device which would cause alarm and secure photographs of burglars.
The accompanying drawing represents aform of construction of the invention.
Figure 1 gives a view of the device arranged in a box. Fig. 2 shows how the device is arranged in connection with an arrangement which is near the door of a room and the like for its purpose.
The invention consists of a box within which two coils of electrical wires, a camera, and a small box having a flap for depressing the bulb which operates the camera and the spring and lever which actuates the flap are arranged, so that when the box with its arrangement are put in connection electrically with the arrangement which may be made near a door, window and the like, the device is always ready to perform its work of closing the circuit and causing alarm and securing a photograph of burglars in the manner hereunder set forth.
A box a consisting of wood or the like is partitioned into two parts horizontally so that a camera a can be situated in one compartment at top, and the lower one can contain two electric coils b b, a box a, and a lever (Z. The box 0 which is open at the back as shown has a turnable flap 1' in its interior with a spiral spring f arranged under it for turning the flap upwards. The said spring and flap are kept in depression by the arm d which is turnable at 2 connected with the lever d in such a manner that on the said lever being jerked downwards, caused by the force of the two coils b, b against the bar (1 which is cross-wise fixed to the end of lever d, the arm (1 jumps clear of the flap so that the bulb h which operates the camera in the manner well known and which is placed between the flap and top cover of the box 0, gets depressed by the flap through the action of the spring f which jumps upwards, while instantly the light j for illuminating the room and light for securing the photograph and also the alarm n are set into ac The box a with its contents is preferably arranged in a recess in the wall, or in a safe and the like, keeping only the lens of the camera exposed to view.
The arrangement with which the device or devices are operated consists of a plate g of wood or the like (see Fig. 2) being kept in level with the floor near a door, window and the like by means of strong springs h which are in a recess or pit in the ground as shown. The plate so arranged is provided with the necessary means to opcrate the electric battery k, which issituated in a suitable place with connection by wires 1 with the device on the said plate being depressed by trampling.
I claim,
1. A device to cause alarm and secure photographs ofburglars, comprising the combination of a box a having a photographic camera 0 two coils b, b in said box adapted to be put in circuit electrically, means adapted to close the circuit when thieves attempt to burgle, means for diffusing light in the room and alarm consisting of an electric lamp 7' and a bell n, means for putting in circuit of said lamp and hell with the electrical current the box 0 inside box a, a lever d having a cross bar (1 and an arm (1 turnably attached on said box, a flap 'i turnably attached in the box 0, a spring 7 arranged under said flap for turning the flap upwards, the rubber bulb h of the camera being arranged between the flap and the top side of the box so that it operates the camera when it is compressed bythe flap at the instant the latter is released by the arm d the moment the cross bar 11 is drawn downwards by the force of the said two coils when the circuit is closed, as substantially set forth.
2. A device to cause alarm and secure photographs of burglars, comprising the combination of a box (1 having a photographic camera 41 two coils b, 0. in said box adapted to be put in circuit electrically, means adapted to close the circuit when thieves attempt to burgle, consisting of a plate 9 arranged in level with the floor near a door by springs h'-, means for diffusing light in the room and alarm consisting of an electric lamp j and a bell n, means for putting in circuit of said lamp and bell with the electrical current the box 0 inside box a, a lever 11 having a cross bar (1 and an arm d turnably attached on said box, a flap 1' turnably attached in the box 0, a spring f arranged under said flap for turning the flap upwards, the rubber bulb h of the camera being arranged between the flap and the top side of the box so that it operates the camera when the bulb is compressed by the flap at the instant the latter is released by the arm (1 the moment the cross bar d is drawn downwards by the force of the said two coils when the circuit is closed, as substantially set forth.
