T srspnoms ouesorosru Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented mine so, 1907.
Application filed May 10,19oa' seen In. 316.111.
I0 tZZ Edwin it puny concern:
Be it known that 1, Gu C. ODOR, of Lima, in the county of Allen and State of Ohio,
have invented certain new and useful Imamount of space on the directoryproper may be used for directory'purposes, While, at the same time, ample space is provided for advertising matter. I accomplish this, Icy the use of two disks, the under one of which is rovided With names, while the upper one I as an opening or gap through which the names may be exposed and on which upper disk -similar advertising matter may be printed. v
lth this ob ect in view, my invention consists now-he hereinafter more particularly described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and then definitely pointed. out in the'clairn' at the end hereof. v
In the drawings accompan ing and form ing part of this application: Figure 1 is an elevation of my directory, and Fig. 2 is a section of the same.
Referring now to the details of the drawings by -.nu1nerals: 1 and 2 represent two disks preferably formed of cardboard and which are, in use, arranged one over the other. The opp disk 1 is provided with a central aperture 3 and an enlarged sight opening 4-. through which may be" exposed any n'iatterwhich may he on the un der disk 2. Since this directory isprincipaiiy to he used as an advertising novelty, thisupper disk 2 may have any suitable advertising matter printed thereon, as illustrated in Fig. 1. The under disk 2 has an ei ilarged opening in the center and at its periphery is formed with a number of divisions on which may be printed the letters of the alphabet. Radiating from the central aperture to the periphery of the disk are a series of lines on which may be in the telephone directory as will written the various names and telephone numbers as is usualwitlrthis class of drrec tory. Underneath this second disk 2 its a base 6 which may he of any desired shape and the under disk 2 is loosely placed. be tween this base 6 and the upper disk 1. The disk 2 is designed to have a movement between the upper disk 1 and the base 6, and to permit this, a ring 8 is employed which fits within the enlarged opening in the under disk 2, and this ring 8 is securely glued, or otherwise fixed, hoth to the upper disk 1 and tothe base 5. By this construction, the upper disk 1 and the h 6 are secured together and at the same til the under disk or directory 2 may be rotated between the upper disk 1 and the base 6 around the ring '8 as a center. Both the ringS-and base 6 have openings 9 and it in their centers which are of the same size as the opening 3 in the upper disk 1, and these openings are designed to permit the telephone directory as an entirety to be properly'seeured to the telephone in the usual manner. In other Words, the directory may he appliedhy removing the mouthpiece of the transmitter, placing the directory in place, and then securing the mouthpiece down tight, which holds the di- 7 rectory in its prop 1r position for use. Since the directory held by the mouthpiece only immediately around the center opeuin 3, 9 and 10, it is easily to he seen that the mouthpiece-does not hind the center dish 2 between the upper disk 1. and the base 6, but, on the contrary, the under dish or directory 2 may be freely rotated to bring appropriate names underneath the opening a to expose those names to View.
My invention so simple that'no further description of its operation necessary.
What I claim as new is: v
In a directory ol. the character described the combination with an uppe dish and a base, each centrally apertured, of a smaller disk formed separately from said upper dish the x nifller ii-sk being sesuredto ether and constrlit-ite'd and e'iffsmged to be c amped-by of May 1906.
