This inventlon relates to improvements in shipping-boxes; and the object thereof is to provide a box for shipping purposes which will be li ht of structure and of great strength and in w 'ch but little material is used.
I accomplish my-object by the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of my box with the lid thereof partly open; and Fig. 2 is a detail in perspectlve, showin the manner of securing the ends of .the bin ing-straps.
Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout both views. Referring to the drawings, 1 is a box, of which the bottom 2, sides 3, ends 4, and lid 5 are made of thin wood or other suitable material. The ends of the box are reinforced by external strips 6, 7, 8, and 9, the latter being attached to the lid 5 at points thereon so as to come external of the ends 4 when the The tops of the strips 7 and 8 have gains 10 made therein, and tongues-11 extend from the ends of the strips 9 and fit in thecorresponding gains 10 when the lid 5 is in proper place.
A series of metallic binding-straps 12 are placed around the box, inclosing the bottom, sides, and lid thereof, and the ends of the Specification of Letters Patent.
