INIPROVEM ENT IN PEN-RACKS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 82,916, dated October 13, 1868.

To all 'whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GHARLEs J. BOUCHE, of Louisville, Jefferson county, Kentucky, have invented a new and useful Combined Pen-Rack, Calendar, and Card-Rack; and Iherebydeclare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this vspeciiication.

Figure l is a general perspective view of my combined pen and card rack and calendar. Fig. 2 is a top view, representing the sides of the same folded. Fig. 3 is the brace-rod detached. Fig. 4 is the roof detached. Fig. 5 represents the calendar partially broken away to exhibit its construction.

My stand or frame consists, essentially, of four sheets, plates, or frames, A B C D,whose vertical edges are connected by hinges E, and which are maintained in a rectangular form by means of a hooked rod, F, whose ends f f occupy sockets Cr G at two diagonally-opposite corners of the stand.

The said stand is surmounted by a roof-like covering, consisting of two sheets or plates, H I, hinged to each other at J, and having suitable anges K K, which hold it upon the body of the stand by engaging over the top edges of the gable-formed end plates C D.

One or each of the gable ends C D is provided with pen-racks M, and has pivoted to it a series of circular plates, O P Q, of unequal diameter, marked respectively, around their margins, with the day, week, and month; and an aperture, It, in the lower part of the same plate (C or D) enables these characters to be plainly read from the outside.

, Lips S on the margins of the individual plates or panels serve to hold cards or sheets T, covered with business advertisements.

I claim herein as new and of my invention- A pen-rack composed of the sides AB C D, connected by hinge-j oints, as shown, the hinged roof H I, brace F, and racks M, all constructed and arranged substantially as described, and provided with calendars O P Q and lips S, for the reception of cards, subs tautially as set forth.
