Application filed .Hay 6, i905. Serial No. 259.224.
for its object the provision of a circuit-tioslng apparatus to be used in eonneetion with the dampenregulating arm usually employed in connection with the thermostat and so constructed and arranged that the weight on the end of the damper-regulating arin coines in contact with the oontaetfplates and cioses the circuit between a battery or other source of electric energy and a bell or other desired alarm. f
The construction and advantages iny invention will be explained detail hereinafter and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l. is a view show i eubator, a damper-regula improved circuit-closer in po. 2, an end View of the damper and my oireuit-oioser in position.
ln the drawings similar characters indicato corresponding parte throughout the several views.
A represents the Atop of an iiicubator-oasying; B, the dampenadjusting lever leruined thereon, having a weight i) one end, and a rodD secured to said lever and to any suit-a 'oie construction or thermostat inside oif' the inouhater.
As sometimes the heat-regulating ineens tail to operate or the lamp that is used to suppiy the heat burns out or is extinguished, i have provided. an alarm to warn the opera tor when the temperature is either too het too ooid to properly operate th neubs n My alarm consists of an eieotrie .ily r bell or other signal E having eleotrieal eonnection with a suitable battery il; invention consists or" a eireuihelo' mounted on the top of the inoohL consisting of an insulated base t metal uprights li, secured to said metal contact-pieces l, secured in uprights H by means ot sorew-holts d'.
bolt-S J have mounted thereon two nuts, one
oi said nuts (designated K) serving to hold the holt in position on the slotted upright H, while the other nut L, which may be a-wingnut or other handeoperated structure, serves to hold the contact-plate in place, each oontact-plate being inade L-shaped, with the shorter portion i perforated to receive the bolt J, while the longer portion is made tapered, as shown at i. Two contact-plates I are secured to each upright H directly opposite one another and the base G so positioned that the weight C is between the plates l, and
when the arm B swings approaches or con-l taots with two of said plates. The Wire M from the positive pole of the battery F is se-l cured to one upright H, while the wire N is seeured to the other uprightH and is connected with the alarm E. f
0 represents the conductor from the bell back to the battery F.
lt will be understood from the above dee' scription and an inspection of the drawings that when the heating apparatus and regulating means operates properly the'weight C does not contact with any of the plates 1 but that should anything happen to the heating apparatus, so that the temperature getseither too hot or too cold, the weight C oontacts with the two plates near the base or top oif uprights il, thus closing:T the circuit be#Y battery and alarm E, which will tween the warn the operator of 'the condition, so that it may be attended to. it will be understood that hy properly positioning the plates l the apparatus may ne arranged to give warning at any il edeterinined degree of .heat or cold and thatdi desired, the uprights l'l may be marked, so that the plates niay be positioned with approximate exaetness. i, l
