Be it known that I, ALICE BOLTON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kansas City, in the county of Jackson and State of Missouri, have invented new and useful Improvements in Games, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to ii'n'provements in games.

The object of my invention is to provide a game apparatus which is compact, durable, and inexpensive and which may be used readily by young or old players and which requires very few instructions for its use.

The novel features of my invention are hereinafter fully described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings, which illustrate the invention, Figure 1 is a plan view of the playing-board, showing some of the playing devices distributed thereon. Fig. 2 is a cross-section taken on the dotted line a b of Fig. 1.

The apparatus comprises a playing-board having on one face a plurality of marked places, preferably depressions in the board, and a plurality of set of playing devices for placing, respectively, upon said marked places the playing devices of each set, having corresponding means for distinguishing them In its preferable form the playing-board comprises a rectangular shee having a series of preforaticns, and a backingB, covering said perforations at one side of the sheet A. The said sheet on the opposite side is provided with a series of lines, preferably forming a polylateral figure, such as a five-pointed star, the functions of the lines being described hereinafter. In Fig. 1 I have represented a five-pointed star C, the border of termediate, respectively, the central perforation and the perforations Z, 3, 4, 5, and 6. The perfc rations are disposed in rows of three each, each row being parallel with an adj acent line forming one of the sides of the star. For example, the perforations 10, 4, and 9 are disposed in a row which is parallel with the lines M and J. The perforations 3, 14, and 5 are disposed upon opposite sides of and parallel with the said lines M and J.

N indicates a plurality of red disks forming playing devices of one set. The letter 0 denotes a series of blue disks forming the playing devices of another set.

The object of each player is to be the first one to place three playing devices in a straight line in any row of perforations or depressions, the person first succeeding in doing this being the winner of the game. Each player, while seeking to place three of his playing devices in a straight row of three, also endeavors to so place the devices as to prevent any of the other players from so arranging his playing devices, the border-lines of the star indicating to the ent groups of depressions, w ie are arranged in rows'of three each.

In playing the game each player in turn places a playing device in one of the depressions of the board. A game apparatus comprising a playingboard and a plurality of sets of playing devices, the devices of each set having corre sponding means for distinguishing them from the devices of the other sets, the playing-board having on its face the figure of a five-pointed star and having on the same face a plurality of marked places for-receiving respectively the playing devices, the marked places being disposed one in the center and one u on and one between each point of the star, t e marked places upon and between the points being disposed respectively in rows disposed parallel respectively with the sides of the star.

A game ap aratus comprising a playingboard and a p urality of differentcolored sets of playing devices, the playingboard havin on one side a star-shaped figure and a plurality of depressions for respectively receiving the playing devices, the depressions being disposed one in the center of the star, one upon each point and one between each two points, the depressions being arranged in rows parallel with the different sides of the star respectively.
