UNITE-D STA'IFES PATENT OFFICE.-
"ANTON ELCHINGER, or Lnrrsro, GERMANY,
CURTAIN-ROD. I
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented March 13,1906.
Application filed August 26, 1904. Serial No. 222,330.
To ctllwhom it mag concern:
Be it known that I, ANTON ELOHINGER, a
subject of the German Emperor, residingat' clear, and exact description of the invention,
such as willenable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My'invention relates to an improved rod for window, door, and other curtains and like dependent screens.
The new rod is com osite in character and of such construction t at it can be adapted for windows and the like of the most various widths, and the peculiar form prevents the curtain-cords from becoming twisted or entangled, whereby perfect drawing and withdrawing of the curtain is insured. I
One style of construction'of the new apparatus is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which the figure shows a persp ec-' tive view.
The device consists, essentially, of a composite rod or frame a, comprisin tubular telescopically-en aging members I), which can be approaclle and receded, so that the frame a can be shortened or lengthened to suit any particular breadth ofwindow or the like. Inside the tubes lie the curtain-cords (1, which are drawn through the slots h in the tubes l) and attached to the curtain-rings g, running on the tubes 1).
In drawing and withdrawing the curtain it is merely necessary to draw upon the dependent portion of the cords d in the ordinary manner.
The new device can be secured in position at the top of a window or the like in any wellknown mannerfor example, by means of hooks e and eyes f or the like.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In combination, telescopicallycooperating tubular members forming a frame and having longitudinal slots, rings running on the members and cords passin through and along the latter and connecte to the rings, substantially as described.
' In testimony whereof I afiix my signature 7 in presence of two witnesses.
ANTON ELCI-IINGER.
