Description

@uiten tstes sttnt @ffice non. NoYEs JtND o.` s. Bti-HEB, 0E MANCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE.
Letters Patent '.No. 80,871, dated August 11, 1868.
IMPROVED SAW-SAETAND GAUGE..
To ALL WHoM. 1r MAY ooNcEHN: p
Be it known that we, W. B. YNOYES and C. S. BAKER, of Manchester, inthe county of Hillsborough, and State of New VHampshire, have invented certain new and Auseful Improvements in Combined Gauge, Squore, and
vWrench for Saws; and wedo herebyrdeclare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof,`
reference being had to the'accompanyingdrawings, and to the letters of reference marked ther'eon, rwhich'form n part of this specilcation, in whichl Figure 1 represents a side view of our gauge.
Figure 2 is a plan view of the same, and
Figure 3 an end view.
The nature of our invention consists in thc construction of certain new and useful devices for gauging and setting saw-teeth, when the same are arrnnged substantially in the manner hereinafter specified l To enable others skilled in the art to make and use our invention, we will now describe its construction and operation. I
r- A represents a. metallbarj, shaped 'as seen in. the drawing, to which the hereinafter-described devices are attached.` l
B designates a. semicircular elevation, with an opening in it to correspond with that in a common sawset.
`One, end of the barA is formed into a. square by the rectangular piece g, with shank n attached to it.
Through shank n a screw, d, is inserted, and a, corresponding screw is insertedthrough bar A. These screws point inwardly, and are nearly in a line. y i
'lhe operation of our gauge, square, and Wrench is as follows: When s. saw requires setting, use the set B for that purpose. In case the teeth should be irregularly set, pass the saw-teeth successively between the screws d d, the said screws having been previously adjusted. If, by this operation, teeth on either side ofthe saw are found ou't of line, the set'B will be usedto bring them in position. The end,g, muy be used as a. wrench.
Having thus described our invention, whiit we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, yis
The within-described device, for 'gauging and setting the teeth of saws, substantially as described.
In testimony that we claim the foregoing as our o wn, we aiix our signatures in presence oftwo witnesses.
` W. B. NoYES,
C. S. BAKER.
