Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 29,1905.
Application filed November 23, 1904. Serial No. 233,990.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, EDWARD SIDNEY DOR- MAN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Plainfield, in the county of Union and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and Improved Hose Supporter, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The purpose of the invention is to provide a hose-supporter made entirely out of metal 7 quickly and conveniently placed in position on the leg and as readily removed and which will not be bulky or detract from the outlines of the limb.
The invention consists in the novel construction and combination of the several parts, as will be hereinafter fully set forth, and pointed out in the claims.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved hose supporter represented in position on a leg, and Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail perspective view of the device.
The device consists of a body A and a supporting member B. The body A is constructed of spring metal and is in the form of an open loop, so that it can be sprung upon the leg and will adapt itself to the contour of the limb and rest firmly yet comfortably thereon. Spring-wire is preferably employed in the construction of the body, the w1re being of suitable gage and either flat or round.
The wire of the body member A is in two strands 10 and 11 with a space 12 between them, and the strands are connected at both ends of the body; but at one end an eye 13 is formed. The supporting member B consists also of two strands of wire 14 and 15 with a space between them, and the said strands at the upper end of the supporting member are slightly twisted to form an eye 16, and the two eyes 13 and 16 have a link or pivotal connection.
The lower ends of the strands 14 and 15 of the supporting member B are formed into or are secured to a gripping member 17 of any desired type. r
The device is exceedingly light, and the spaces between the strands of which it is composed render said device very cool when Worn, and the peculiar manner in which the supporting member is connected with the body member admits of the supporting member being turned as may be-required; but normally the supporting member hangs down from the body member, and when the device is worn the said supporting member lies flat and smooth against the limb, as is shown in Fig. 1.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. As an improved article of manufacture,
a hose-supporter constructed of metal and comprising an open spring loop-body-member and a supporting member pivotally connected to one end of the body member.
2. As an improved article of manufacture, a hose supporter constructed entirely of metal and comprising an open spring loopbody having spaced strands and a supporting member pivoted to one end of the body.
3. As an improved article of manufacture, a hose-supporter consisting of a spring-body in the form of an open loop, the body'being formed of spaced strands of wire and having an eye at one end a supporting member pivotally connected with the eye of the body, and a gri ping device for the supporting member, a l the parts bein made of metal.
4. As an improved artic e of manufacture, a hose-supporter consisting of a body member, a supporting member pivoted to an end of the body member, and a gripping'device carried. by the supporting member, the body member consisting of an upper and a lower strand of spring-wire bent to the form of an open loop, the said strands having their ends connected and formed into an eye at one end of the body, the supporting member oonsistname to this specification in the presence of ing-of strand; of Wire having their upper ends two subscribing Witnesses. twisted and ormed into an eye which interlocks With the eye at the body, the other ends EDWARD SIDNEY DORMAN 5 of the strands being secured to the said grip- Witnesses:
ping device. v i A. P. GARDINER,
In testimony whereof I have signed my E. E. DORMAN.
